Two cases. Two very different challenges. One team brought together by a shared commitment to spine care.

At Kanke General Hospital & Research Centre, Ranchi, Jharkhand, the team came together for two complex cases, an intradural cyst affecting the spinal cord and a dorsolumbar scoliosis deformity.

Each case called for its own assessment, planning and surgical approach. Behind it all were specialists working together, bringing their experience, time and attention to every decision.

Case Insight by Dr. Raghu Prasad Varma | Krishnagiri

For a 34-year-old woman from a tribal community near Krishnagiri, standing for even five minutes had become difficult. The heaviness in her legs would force her to sit down, making everyday activities like cooking increasingly challenging.

During The Spine Foundation camp at Krishnagiri Medical College, investigations revealed a slipped vertebra causing spinal instability and pressure on the nerves going into her legs.

Dr. Raghu Prasad Varma explains how the surgical team planned a posterior lumbar decompression with instrumented fusion, aimed at stabilising the spine, relieving pressure on the nerves, and helping her regain the ability to stand, walk, and carry out her daily activities more comfortably.

At Swami Ramanand Teerth Rural Medical College, Ambajogai, patients shared stories of burning pain in their legs, limited mobility, and the everyday struggle of being unable to walk comfortably.

After their surgeries, their words were simple but powerful:

“I feel better.”
“Now I can walk.”

These are the moments that remind us why access to specialised spine care matters. Behind every procedure is a person hoping to return to movement, independence, and everyday life.

Five patients. Five different stories. One weekend dedicated to bringing specialist spine care closer.

The latest Spine Times: Dharampur Field Edition takes you inside The Spine Foundation’s journey at Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital, Dharampur, Gujarat, from 7th to 9th August 2026.

From patient assessments and scan reviews to surgical planning and recovery, this edition captures the teamwork behind every step of care.

In one surgical day, the team completed five procedures: 2 TLIFs, 2 lumbar decompressions, and 1 lumbar microdiscectomy. All five patients were stable, had begun physiotherapy, and showed neurological improvement following surgery.

A heartfelt thank you to the entire team whose expertise, time, coordination, and commitment made this camp possible. Every role, both inside and outside the operating theatre, contributed to the care our patients received.

Spine Times is a glimpse into these people, partnerships, and stories that continue to take our mission forward.

Healing Journal | Krishnagiri

Every smile in this photograph tells a story that words often cannot.

At Government Medical College & Hospital, Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, from 26th–28th June 2026, patients who had lived with pain for years took an important step towards a better quality of life.

For many, this wasn’t just a hospital visit. It was the first time they found answers, the first time they felt heard, and the first time they believed recovery was possible.

Through collaboration with the local medical team, The Spine Foundation continues to bring specialist spine care to communities where access is often limited, because quality healthcare should never depend on where someone lives.

Every patient we meet reminds us that healing isn’t just about surgery. It’s about restoring confidence, independence, and hope.

From 29th July to 3rd August 2026, The Spine Foundation carried its mission across two corners of India, bringing specialist spine care to patients who needed it most.

Care begins with listening. Healing begins with hope.

At Makunda Christian Leprosy & General Hospital, Karimganj, Assam, The Spine Foundation witnessed stories of resilience at every step. Patients travelled long distances carrying years of pain, searching for answers and the possibility of a better tomorrow.

Over the course of the camp, the team completed 11 procedures while working alongside the local medical team to deliver specialist spine care closer to the communities that need it most.

Every consultation was guided by compassion. Every diagnosis was made with care. Every procedure reflected the power of collaboration between specialists, local clinicians, researchers, physiotherapists, and volunteers.
