Hailing from Sadar Block, Keonjhar, Jyoshna Rani Naik spent years working in a local salon while nurturing a dream of creating an enterprise of her own.

The DMF Udyami Project became the catalyst that helped her turn that aspiration into action. With the right guidance, encouragement and institutional support, Jyoshna took her entrepreneurial journey forward and built an enterprise that is now shaping a more independent and empowered future for her.

From nurturing an idea to creating her own enterprise, Jyoshna’s journey is a celebration of courage, opportunity and the power of believing in one’s potential. 🌱✨

🌟 Building an enterprising Hatadihi, one Gram Panchayat at a time! 🌟

The journey towards creating a stronger culture of entrepreneurship in Hatadihi Block, Keonjhar continues! 🚀

Over three days, three Enterprise Awareness Programmes (EAPs) were successfully conducted across:

📍 Bancho GP – The first EAP in Hatadihi Block, held at the Bancho Panchayat Office in the presence of the Sarpanch, Supply Department DEO and PEO.

📍 Panchagochiya GP – 41 potential entrepreneurs participated, with the Sarpanch, PEO and ADEO joining the session.

📍 Anara GP – The third EAP brought the community together and helped identify aspiring entrepreneurs interested in taking the next step towards the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP).

Through these sessions, participants explored business ideas, entrepreneurship opportunities, how to start an enterprise, and the support available to them.

From awareness to action — the journey continues. Next stop: EDP! 🚀

Where Rural Enterprise Finds Its Wings

A meaningful village-level interaction was held at Madhupur Village, Jhumpura Block, under the DMF Udyami Project, with families engaged in poultry entrepreneurship.

With 28 families involved in poultry activities and 16 currently active, the interaction focused on understanding their existing enterprises, identifying the challenges they face, and exploring opportunities to strengthen and expand their poultry businesses.

The discussion was a step towards understanding the ground realities of local entrepreneurs and creating pathways for stronger enterprises, sustainable livelihoods, and greater economic opportunities within the community.

Through continued engagement and support, the DMF Udyami Project aims to nurture grassroots entrepreneurship and help local enterprises grow with greater confidence and sustainability.

Meet Banabasi Mahakud from Dhobakuchuda village, Joda Block — a woman who turned her determination to support her family into a journey of entrepreneurship.

Married young and unable to continue her studies, Banabasi took on family responsibilities while holding on to her aspiration to contribute to her household income.

Her journey took a new turn when she attended an Entrepreneurship Counselling and Awareness Programme in her village, where her idea received guidance and encouragement.

With seed fund support from DMF UDYAMI, Banabasi established her own paper plate manufacturing unit, supplying local dhabas, grocery stores and businesses.

Today, her enterprise is creating a steady source of income and strengthening her contribution to her family’s financial well-being.

Dignitary Visit to the First DMF Udyami Unit

The first unit under the DMF Udyami Project welcomed a distinguished visit today.

Shri Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Co-operation Department; Shri Vishal Singh, IAS, District Magistrate & Collector, Keonjhar; Shri Kumar Nagabhusan, CDO-cum-Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Keonjhar; and Shri Pradeep Kumar Pradhan, SPO, DMF, interacted with the beneficiaries and reviewed the unit's functioning.

From aspiration to enterprise, the dignitaries lauded the initiative for opening sustainable livelihood pathways at the grassroots, and reaffirmed the commitment to rural self-employment, enterprise growth and lasting economic empowerment.

Entrepreneurship Counselling & Awareness Programme | Chamakpur GP, Joda

A Joint Entrepreneurship Counselling Session and Sensitization-cum-Awareness Programme was held at Chamakpur Gram Panchayat, Joda Block, under the DIC Keonjhar and EDII–DMF UDYAMI convergence initiative, with around 30 aspiring entrepreneurs participating.

The session focused on creating awareness about entrepreneurship opportunities, motivating youth towards self-employment, and guiding them on government schemes, financial assistance and business development support available across departments.

The programme was attended by Sarpanch Sankuntala Naik, PEO Subash Chandra Nanda, Agriculture Officer Hiranjan Goipai, DIC AIO Satyaranjan Sahoo and Project Officer Aditya Prasad Mohanty, who guided participants towards turning their aspirations into viable enterprises.

Orientation & Awareness Programme on Innovation & Start-ups | Day 1 & 2

An Orientation & Awareness Programme on Innovation & Start-ups was organized at Mahapat Mahavidyalaya, Janghira, Harichandanpur, with the participation of around 90–100 students across the two-day programme.

The sessions focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, start-up opportunities and self-employment, encouraging young minds to explore entrepreneurship as a pathway to self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.

Along with insightful discussions on identifying opportunities and transforming innovative ideas into viable businesses, students were introduced to relevant DIC schemes and the handholding support available through the EDII–DMF UDYAMI Project.

Turning Ideas into Opportunities!

At the Champua MERC Office, aspiring entrepreneurs came together to discover how government support can help transform business ideas into sustainable ventures.

Through an interactive session under DMF-Udyami, participants explored key schemes such as PMEGP, PMFME, and MKUY, gaining insights into eligibility, loans, subsidies, financial assistance, and the application process.

With the support of the District Mineral Foundation (DMF), Keonjhar, EDII continues to spearhead entrepreneurial interventions across the district, empowering aspiring entrepreneurs with the knowledge, resources, and confidence to take their ideas forward.

In Keonjhar District, across all 7 blocks, our EDII–DMF-UDYAMI Project is bringing hope and self-reliance to every Gram Panchayat.

Through community awareness meetings, our Block Project Officers (BPOs) and Udyami Mitras connect deeply with villagers. EDII team explains government schemes in simple, everyday language, so everyone can understand what's available to them and how to benefit.

Awareness is the first step towards change. In mining-affected areas, it means discovering opportunities and knowing where to turn for skill development, government schemes or a path towards self-reliance.
