🌍 Insightful and Informative Lecture on Climate Change, River Restoration, and Sustainable Landscaping
🗣️ By Dr. Geeta Mehta, President and Co-founder, Asia Initiatives

We were honored to witness an inspiring lecture by Dr. Geeta Mehta, a globally respected urban planner and social entrepreneur, who is also the President and Co-founder of Asia Initiatives. With her vast experience in sustainable development and human-centered design, Dr. Mehta shared her vision and practical solutions for some of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time.

Key Highlights of the Lecture:
🌱 Climate Change and Community Action
Dr. Mehta emphasized the need for locally-rooted climate strategies, where communities become active participants in resilience building and climate adaptation.

🌊 River Restoration
She shared case studies and tools for reviving river ecosystems, particularly focusing on participatory approaches that combine science with indigenous knowledge, ensuring both ecological health and water security.

🌿 Sustainable Landscaping
With examples from Asia and beyond, Dr. Mehta explained how sustainable landscaping not only enhances biodiversity but also uplifts the quality of urban life—integrating green infrastructure with social equity.

🤝 SOCCS (Social Capital Credits):
A unique highlight was the introduction of SOCCS, an innovative system pioneered by Asia Initiatives that rewards communities for sustainable and socially beneficial actions—empowering grassroots change.

Dr. Mehta’s lecture reminded us that transformational change is possible when technology, tradition, and compassion converge. Her work continues to inspire thousands across the globe to rethink development with nature and equity at the core.
