INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY
--------------------------------
International Mother Language Day is observed annually worldwide on 21st February affirming the importance of linguistic diversity.
It is estimated that there are more than 8000 languages in the world, out of which about 7000 languages are in use. Through globalisation many languages are under threat of disappearance.
Learning of mother languages enhance critical thinking, preserve mother language, safeguard cultural heritage and improve education.
This day is observed by organising social gathering, honoring their language & culture, holding literary competitions and listening songs on local languages.
But it is a fact that entire world population is divided on the basis of 8000 local languages.
This division stands as an obstacle on world integration and global peace.
In this regard, Global Peace Foundation advocates introduction of three compulsory languages globally.
* Local languages for all local communities .
* National languages for communication at national level.
* One compulsory global language for global communication.
All global citizens should learn at least these three languages for global communication to maintain global peace.
