SMILE NGO SMILE ( Society for Mobilizing and Improving the Life Experiences of women and children) is a Non-profit organisation working in Jaipur.

SMILE is a non-profit organization working for the betterment of deprived women and children since November 2003. It includes people who have put their needs aside and are helping the underprivileged section of the society. On hearing the word "SMILE" the hearts and souls of the people leap with happiness and enthusiasm. The society makes effort to reach out to those who are not as fortunate as we

are. Presently we're working in Balika Grah, Mahila Sadan and Kishore Grah (homes run by Government) and 9-slums – Goutam Nagar, Bairwa Basti, Valmiki Basti, Shastri Nagar, Purani Basti, Char Darwaja Basti, Nai Ki Thari, Ghatgate, Manoharpura Basti and Malviya Nagar Sector 1, 2, 3 Jaipur. Presently vocational training to going on 6 slums that is – Khania Bandha, Idegaha, Suraj Pole, Ghat Gate, Goutam Nagar & Hayajawala. As a result 5945 women and children have been vocationally trained and have become self-dependent and have started earning on their own as well using these learnt skills like stitching clothes, beauty culture, doing craftwork, doing electrician/plumbing related work etc. Also, 5000 to 5500 children and women have been given counselling and 1663 people have been provided education. SMILE is giving them love and affection equal to that of parents, giving them counselling, vocational training and education. Moreover 110 lost children (appx) were returned with their families. Overtime SMILE has developed a strong team of almost 15 staff members that can work with children and women from disadvantaged and difficult background, help them understand from their perspective and consul them to build their self confidence and engage with families and communities in more meaningful way. The team works under the guidance of an executive committee, comprising of 8 honorary members (seven women and one man) with diverse background and strong professional and social experience. The secretary of SMILE—Mrs. Kamini Shukla- has been honored at several high-level forums in Jaipur including awarding of ‘Jaipur Shree’ in 2010, Women recognizing 2013 "Heart of Gold" award by FM TARKA, Red Ricksa Campagin with Voda phone 2013 and featuring in one of TV documentary in 2011. SAHARA TV featured one of SMILE success stories—Mrs. Lali Devi, a former beneficiary of SMILE and now one of the most active staff members of SMILE. SMILE has developed strategic partnerships with other NGOs operating in Jaipur city (e.g. Vishakha, Bodh Shiksha Smiti, Action Aid), local banks (Canara Bank, SBBJ), as well as with universities and government departments, and will be able to use these partnerships for effective implementation of the proposed.
