Seppa, East Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh– Karan Bagang, President of the Human Rights International Federation (Arunachal Pradesh Unit), attended the 19th Gumkum Gumpa Festival Celebration 2025 as the Guest of Honour on opening ceremony at Nyokum Lapang Ground, Seppa.
In his address to the gathering, Bagang encouraged the Puroik community, whom he respectfully referred to as brothers and sisters, to work hard—especially in the field of education—and to avoid excessive dependence on nature for livelihood. He strongly emphasized the importance of standing up for their rights, urging them not to live in the shadow of other communities,to embrace a life of freedom,to break free from any lingering chains of marginalization and to contribute meaningfully to the progress of Society.
He further advised the community to be front runners in their fight for justice and equality, and not to remain in a state of social or political "hibernation." and your voice matters-your efforts will shape your future.Bagang inspired them to strive for a life parallel to that of other communities in terms of dignity, opportunity, and progress.
Assuring his full support for their development, Bagang stated that he is always ready to assist the Puroik people in any form of need, especially for causes that promote social upliftment.
Symbolically, he referred to the logo of the Gumkum Gumpa Festival—two arrows and two feathers—encouraging the community to “be like the arrows, focused and determined and drive to hitting the target in everyday life.”while the feathers symbolize resilience,cultural identity,and spiritual strength.Together,the emblem signifies the importance of aiming high,working hard,and staying committed to one's goals.
