A one-day Village-Level Treatment Literacy Programme was successfully conducted at Chingai Village with the active participation of 50 village volunteers supported by Working Animal Internation formerly SPANA. The programme aimed to promote healthy and productive buffalo rearing by creating awareness on common animal diseases and their effective management.

The session was facilitated by Dr. Ngahorshai Luithui, Dr. Gs Panreiphy, and Dr. As Tamchuila, who shared valuable technical knowledge and practical insights on major livestock diseases including Black Quarter (Black Leg), Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), Haemorrhagic Septicaemia (HS), Bloat/Tympany, and Mastitis. Participants learned about symptoms, transmission, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and control measures to ensure better livestock care practices in their communities.

The programme strengthened the knowledge and capacity of village volunteers towards improving animal healthcare and sustainable livestock development in the region.

The Institute of Social Research and Development (ISRD) is implementing an 8-month long “Skill-Upgradation through Embroidery and Tailoring” programme for 120 internally displaced women from 2nd April 2026 at ISRD’s Training Hall, Imphal.

This initiative is supported by the Australian Consulate-General, Kolkata under the Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2026.

The project aims to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for vulnerable internally displaced women through skill enhancement and economic empowerment. By the end of the programme, 120 women will be equipped with embroidery and tailoring skills to improve their income generation opportunities and self-reliance.

🎯 Key Objectives:
• Provide sustainable livelihood opportunities through skill upgradation
• Help women mitigate post-conflict consequences including domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence
• Facilitate employment opportunities through linkages with production houses
• Promote self-employment and access to financial services through financial institutions

The Institute of Social Research and Development (ISRD), Manipur successfully organized a One Day Workshop on “Illegal Influx and its Impact on Indigenous People of Manipur: Challenges, Implications and Pathways Forward” on 15th May 2026 at Hotel Imolesh, Imphal, supported by the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy.

The workshop brought together scholars, social activists, civil society organisations, community leaders, youth representatives, and participants from across Manipur to deliberate on the growing concerns surrounding illegal influx, demographic changes, indigenous identity, socio-economic impacts, environmental degradation, and pathways for sustainable solutions.

The discussions highlighted the urgent need for:
✅ Protection of indigenous identity and land rights
✅ Stronger border management and lawful verification systems
✅ Community awareness and youth engagement
✅ Environmental protection and sustainable governance
✅ Peaceful, transparent, and democratic approaches to addressing the issue

The programme served as an important platform for dialogue, awareness generation, and collective action towards safeguarding the future, identity, and social harmony of Manipur.

On 16th May 2026, ISRD in collaboration with WWDP Germany conducted a counselling session at Sajiwa Relief Camp on issues related to violence against women, with the support and guidance of Ms. Nitika Sharma Shamurailatpam, Advocate, High Court of Manipur.

The session was organised after the client approached ISRD seeking assistance and support. The counselling focused on finding peaceful and practical solutions through discussion, guidance and referral linkages with concerned authorities.

The meeting was attended by Meira Paibi leaders, Relief camp committee members and the client’s family members, whose participation contributed towards constructive dialogue and community support.

The Institute of Social Research and Development (ISRD), in collaboration with WWDP Germany, successfully organized the Capacity Building Program on Ensuring in Ending Violence Against Women through Human Rights Perspective in Manipur at Relief Camp, Langol, Imphal West District on 9th May 2026.

The program featured insightful sessions by the resource persons — Mrs. B. Supriya Devi, Advocate (Panel Lawyer, DLSA Imphal East), who spoke on Violence Against Women and Women’s Rights and Ms. Nitika Sharma Shamurailatpam, Advocate, High Court of Manipur, who delivered an awareness session on POCSO and Child Protection Act. The programme also included an interactive session with the participants, encouraging open discussion, awareness sharing and community engagement on issues related to women and child rights. A total of 45 beneficiaries participated in the programme. Their valuable insights greatly contributed to strengthening legal awareness and understanding among the participants.

On 7th May 2026, the Institute of Social Research and Development (ISRD), in partnership with WWDP Germany, organized a follow-up group discussion at Kamakhya Pemton College, Hiyangthang, Imphal West District.

The session was conducted under the ongoing initiative focused on strengthening the capacities of internally displaced women to prevent and respond to violence against women through a human rights-based approach.

The discussion highlighted the importance of continued engagement with women’s collectives, raising awareness on community-level challenges, and promoting locally relevant response strategies. Through regular dialogue, collaboration, and collective participation, the initiative aims to strengthen community networks and empower women to confidently raise their voices for the protection and promotion of their rights.

ISRD, in collaboration with Working Animals International (formerly SPANA), successfully organized a one-day Village-Level Treatment Literacy Program on 28th April 2026 at Ngainga Village, Ukhrul, Manipur.

👥 50 village volunteers participated in the program

The session was facilitated by Dr. Ngahorshai Luithui (Retd. Project Officer, Veterinary Department, Government of Manipur), who provided practical guidance on:
✔️ Common diseases affecting buffalo
✔️ Basic treatment and management practices
✔️ Improving the working conditions of animals

The program aimed to raise awareness among buffalo owners on better care and treatment practices for their animals. It also included an interactive discussion session and an open-ended Q&A, allowing participants to share experiences and clarify their doubts.

Together, we continue to empower communities with knowledge for healthier animals and sustainable livelihoods.

ISRD, in collaboration with Working Animals International (formerly SPANA), successfully organized a one-day training on “Engagement of Village Level Volunteers and Vaccination Skills” on 25th April 2026 at Kasomtang Village, Ukhrul District, Manipur.

The session was led by Dr. Ngahorshai Luithui (Retd. Project Officer, Govt. of Manipur), who highlighted the importance of timely vaccination and improved health care for working buffalo to prevent diseases like HS and BQ.

Institute of Social Research and Development (ISRD) initiated 8 months long Skill-Upgradation through Embroidery and Tailoring for 120 Internally Dispplaced Women on 2nd April 2026 at ISRD's Training Hall with support from Australian Consulate-General, Kolkata under Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2026.
