As part of the National HPV Vaccination Campaign for the girl child (14 years) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccination Programme was launched today by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal, in the esteemed presence of Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal, at the Paediatric Immunization OPD, RIMS Hospital, Imphal.

The HPV Vaccination Programme aims to prevent cervical cancer by immunizing adolescent girls against high-risk strains of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The initiative primarily targets girls aged 9–14 years, with a special focus on 14-year-old girls. A single-dose schedule has been adopted to ensure wider coverage and ease of implementation. The vaccination is being provided free of cost and will be carried out through government health facilities, including RIMS, Imphal.

The launch of this programme marks a significant step towards strengthening preventive healthcare and reducing the burden of cervical cancer in the region.The program was attended by HODs, faculty members, nursing officials and staffs of RIMS, Imphal.

Free HPV Vaccination Facility at RIMS Hospital, Imphal

Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, informs the general public that under the National HPV Vaccination Campaign of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, free Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is available at the Paediatric Immunization OPD, RIMS Hospital, Imphal.
The vaccination programme is aimed at preventing cervical cancer and related diseases caused by HPV infection. Eligible girl children aged 14 years are requested to avail the free vaccination facility during OPD hours from 27 April 2026 onwards.
Important Government Guidelines
The HPV vaccine is being provided free of cost under the Government of India programme.
The programme currently targets 14-year-old girls.
Vaccination is voluntary and requires parental/guardian consent before administration.
The vaccine protects against HPV types associated with cervical cancer.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to take advantage of this important preventive health initiative for protection against cervical cancer.

Two Tangkhul Civilians injured today at Mullam Village, Ukhrul—one from Hundung Kaziphing and another from Ramphoi, Kamjong are safe and under treatment at RIMS Hospital, Imphal.

VHUC volunteers are providing full support and guidance under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nepram Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS.

Two bullet-injured Tangkhul Naga patients have been airlifted from Ukhrul and are expected to land shortly at Kangla Helipad by chopper. State ambulances are on standby to shift them to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital (RIMS). The Voluntary Help Unit Committee (VHUC) and medical staff of RIMS are fully prepared.
