Distribution of aids and appliances by Saadhya Trust
On 06/04/2026, a program for the distribution of assistive devices to specially-abled individuals was organized under the joint collaboration of Saadhya Trust for Social Development, Azim Premji Foundation, APD Organization Bengaluru, and the Department for the Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens, Vijayanagara District.
On this occasion, Mrs. Kavitha S. Mannikeri, Honorable Deputy Commissioner of Vijayanagara District, distributed the assistive devices and addressed the gathering. She wholeheartedly appreciated the work of Saadhya organization and expressed her happiness. She called upon parents to avoid consanguineous marriages (marriages within close relations) to prevent such issues. She emphasized that parents should share their experiences to help others avoid similar situations. She praised the courage of parents in taking care of their children. She also assured that it is her responsibility to ensure that all benefits from the district administration, health department, and women and child welfare department reach the parents and the organization. She expressed her delight after observing all the activities conducted by the organization and stated that their work is far greater than what the administration does. She thanked all the management members and staff of Saadhya organization and said she felt fortunate to be part of such a meaningful program.
Saadhya organization’s founder and head, Mrs. Aarathi K.T., delivered the introductory speech and expressed her happiness that their long-standing effort over the past few months to invite the DC Madam had finally come true. She explained that for the past 9 years, the organization has been running a residential school and vocational training programs for children with intellectual disabilities, focusing on developing their life skills.
From 2025 to 2028, the organization aims to screen a total of 8,000 children aged 0 to 8 years, identify around 400 specially-abled children, and provide them with necessary medical care, therapy, and vocational training to bring them into the mainstream of society. Covering 14 Gram Panchayats and 35 wards of Hosapete, the organization has already screened 4,257 children in the past year and identified 285 children. Among them, 61 children have been assessed in collaboration with APD and provided with customized assistive devices based on their needs, which were distributed today. She also urged parents to continue physiotherapy and speech therapy at home. Additionally, she appealed to the authorities for more government support to benefit these children.
Mr. Ramanjaneya, District Welfare Officer for the Disabled, also distributed assistive devices to the beneficiaries.
The program was attended by Mr. Sanjay S.B., Taluk Coordinator from APF, Hosapete Taluk, trustees of Saadhya organization Mr. Liyaqat Khadri, Mr. Umesh Bhoosi, Mrs. Veena Kunte, and the school head teacher Mrs. Veena.
During the program, several parents shared their experiences and expressed happiness about the progress of their children at Saadhya organization.
More than 120 specially-abled individuals and around 150 parents from 14 Gram Panchayats of Hosapete Taluk, Kamalapura Town Municipality, and Mariyammanahalli Town Panchayat participated and made the program successful.
The program concluded with honoring the dignitaries. The event began with a welcome by Sandhya Kulkarni, followed by a group song (prayer) by the early identification program staff—Anand, Shankar, Bellappa, Savitri, Saraswati Huligemma, and Sandhya. The program was compered and concluded with a vote of thanks by Ratna Gali.
