Garbage is one of the most challenging factor that pollutes the environment everywhere. Garbage on foothills are being dumped for ages but attention of the society has been drawn recently towards garbage on the mountains, specially Himalayas. Our projects are focused on conducting activities and clean up of the mess that has been accumulated on all the places primarily the Foothills of Himalayas.

We organise special activities, mass clean-ups and events in the community and schools to create the awareness level of the society towards restoring the environment.

This World Environment Day, the Himalayas witnessed communities coming together with one shared mission — to beat plastic pollution and protect the mountains we call home.
Together, over 1.6 tons of waste was collected from fragile mountain ecosystems.
From Kazaa, Shimla, Kedarnath, Kinnaur, Harshil, Kheer Ganga, Bijli Mahadev to Khoksar, Panchayats, Mahila Mandals, youth groups, local administration, Hotel Associations, Forest and Irrigation Departments, volunteers, local residents along with Healing Himalayas team joined hands for large-scale cleanup drives.

Every piece of waste removed is a step toward cleaner rivers, healthier forests, safer wildlife habitats, and more responsible tourism.

The Himalayas protect us every day. It is our responsibility to protect them back. 💚

Through the Carry Me Back movement, pilgrims are stepping up to protect the Himalayas by carrying waste back down from Kedarnath.

In just 3 days, over 300 kgs of waste has already been carried back and this is just the beginning.

Our goal this year: 100 tons. Together.

Carry your faith. Carry your responsibility too.

We were happy to host 66 students and 7 teachers from St. Joseph School, Ambala at our Koksar MRF Plant for a hands-on learning experience on waste management and segregation.

Students explored how dry and wet waste are managed in Koksar Panchayat, learned about different segregation categories, the baling process, and digital waste data management systems. They also actively participated in the hands-on segregation process at the MRF, experiencing firsthand how waste is sorted and managed responsibly.
The visit concluded with an interactive group activity that blended practical learning with fun and teamwork.

Programs like these inspire young minds to become responsible environmental leaders of tomorrow.

We welcome more schools to join this journey where learning, fun, and positive change go hand in hand for a cleaner Himalayas.

What creates real change?
People showing up for the spaces they call home.

In Sethan -Hamta, local residents, dhabha walas, and stakeholders came together to clean roadsides, streams, and mountain slopes covered in unsegregated waste.
Together, a jeep full of waste was collected and sent to the MRF at Mansari.
Community clean-ups are not just about removing waste.
They are about collective responsibility, local action, and protecting the Himalayas together.

On a regular weekday, the people of Shimla came together with a shared purpose — to protect the beauty of the hills and take responsibility for the environment. Volunteers, students, and members of local communities collectively removed 29 bags of waste from the city, proving that meaningful change begins with collective action.
This initiative reflects the growing accountability and environmental consciousness among citizens who believe that keeping Shimla clean and green is not the responsibility of a few, but a commitment shared by all.

Over 4+ tonnes of waste collected and diverted since the start of operations this year in Koksar.
Despite snowfall, unpredictable weather, and difficult terrain, the work continues — driven by a committed team and strengthened by the active participation of the local community. Sustainable change here is only possible because people on the ground are choosing to be part of it.

India is ready for world-class trekking but the mountains need more than trails.

With the Union Budget 2026–27 and the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, the intent is clear: growth must come with responsibility. Sustainable trails mean accountable tourism, strong local systems, and respect for fragile ecosystems. The opportunity is here. The way we implement it will decide the future of our mountains.

Winter trips to the mountains look magical but only if you’re prepared. Packing right, checking the weather, wearing proper shoes, and carrying your waste back can save you (and the mountains) a lot of trouble. This season, let’s travel a little smarter, lighter, and kinder. After all, these mountains are someone’s home and caring for them is on all of us.
