Lusophone Society of Goa / Sociedade Lusófona de Goa Join India's rediscovery of the lusophone world, through Goa, with Portuguese-speaking communities, from Portugal and Brazil to Angola, Mozambique, Timor!

The Lusophone Society of Goa (LSG) was founded in Goa, India and registered under Societies Registration Act 1860. The aim of the Society is to promote and support the Lusophone culture in Goa, fostering connections between Goa and the Lusophone countries and regions, and pursuing projects related to the Portuguese language and Lusophone cultures in the fields of arts, charity, education, science

and technology. The Society is committed to encompassing the cultures of the many nations and regions of the Lusophone Culture (Portuguese-speaking people, regions and countries), that is mainly people of Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, East Timor, Guiné – Bissau, the Indian State of Goa, the Union Territory of Daman and Diu in India, the region of Macau, Mozambique, Portugal, and São-Tomé and Príncipe, considering that Portuguese is the fifth-most spoken language in the world. Knowledge of the Lusophone cultures is essential for understanding the political, economic, and social world with which India and particularly the State of Goa, has increasing ties. Aurobindo Xavier
