The INTACH Ferozepur Chapter successfully conducted Heritage & Citizen Workshop today at D.C. Model International School, Ferozepur City.

The session featured insightful addresses by Dr. Rameshwar Singh Katara, a noted educationist and Dr. Dijit Singh Sandhu Managing Director, Baba Ishar Singh Group of Institutions, Moga.
While Dr. Katara spoke on the revival of cultural heritage and the challenges involved in preserving the district’s heritage, Dr. Sandhu highlighted the importance of soil fertility, environmental conservation and plantation initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Vikram Ditya Sharma , Co-Convener, INTACH Ferozepur Chapter, extended sincere gratitude to Dr. Anirudh Gupta, Convener INTACH Ferozepur Chapter, for spearheading such meaningful initiatives in this border district and for inspiring youth to actively engage in preserving our rich heritage. He also expressed his thanks to Major General Balwinder Singh (Retd.), VSM, Convener, INTACH Punjab, for providing the opportunity to organize this impactful workshop.

DCM International School, Ferozepur City, under the aegis of the INTACH Ferozepur Chapter, organized an “Environment Awareness Challenge” to promote environmental consciousness among students.
Students enthusiastically participated in the poster-making competition, creatively highlighting the importance of bees and turtles in maintaining ecological balance. Along with their posters, participants also submitted short write-ups expressing their thoughts on environmental conservation and sustainable living.
The activity encouraged students to think creatively, spread awareness about biodiversity and understand the significance of protecting nature and wildlife for a healthier planet.

Under the INTACH Ferozepur Chapter, the World Museum Day Challenge was successfully conducted across DCM Sr. Sec. School, Ferozepur Cantt., DCM International School and Dass & Brown World School. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who creatively curated their own “Home Museums,” showcasing elements of their personal heritage and meaningful possessions.

On the occasion of World Earth Day, under the aegis of the INTACH Ferozepur Chapter, DCM Sr. Sec. School, Ferozepur Cantt; DCM International School, Ferozepur City and Dass & Brown World School organized a series of engaging intra-class competitions across various grades.
Grade IV students showcased their creativity through leaf art and nature collage-making activities. Grade V students actively participated in the ‘Trash to Treasure’ activity, demonstrating innovation and environmental awareness. For Grades VI–IX, activities such as declamation, creative writing and extempore were conducted, providing students with a platform to express their ideas and enhance their communication skills.
These activities helped students develop creativity, build confidence, enhance their communication skills and deepen their understanding of environmental conservation and sustainable practices.

On the occasion of World Heritage Day, the members of the INTACH Ferozepur Chapter visited the historic Saragarhi Museum and Memorial, paying homage to one of the most inspiring chapters of military history associated with the region.

The visit turned into an engaging and insightful session as members gathered for a meaningful discussion on the history, significance, and enduring impact of the legendary Battle of Saragarhi. The interaction reflected a deep sense of respect and curiosity among the participants, who explored how the valour and sacrifice of 21 Sikh soldiers continue to inspire generations.

During the discussion, Dr Rameshwar Singh shared several lesser-known yet fascinating insights about the memorial and the battle. He elaborated on the strategic importance of Saragarhi, the unmatched courage displayed by the soldiers, and how the memorial stands today not just as a structure, but as a symbol of bravery, resilience, and national pride.

The members also reflected on the importance of preserving such heritage sites, especially in a historically rich district like Ferozepur, which holds immense cultural and patriotic significance. The visit concluded with a renewed commitment among the members to continue promoting awareness about local heritage and ensuring that stories like Saragarhi remain alive in public memory.
