It’s the little things that keep me going. And in this case, it’s the little kittens Apsara has entrusted on me to be hand raised.
That’s why Apsara is forever. She didn’t want to die. She didn’t want us to raise her kittens without her. She wanted to be a part of it, even in her sickness. She wanted feed them, and groom them and she did one last time too before she was taken to the vet where she passed away. It’s unfair for her kids to be raised without her and it’s unfair that she didn’t get to see probably her only litter that was not going to be sold underage. I know her spirit is there somewhere watching us raise her kids.
Pomelo is forever too. At just 5 months of age, she was on the streets, paralysed for more than a week on the streets and entered someone’s house to seek help. You need courage for that, and the will to live. What’s unfortunate is that these were not enough. Pomelo bought bravely but it was too much for her tiny body. Knowing her, if you ask her spirit what she would want not, she would say she would like to get a chance at living again. That’s how much in love with life she was.
Skittles, however would do the opposite. For 13 years, he must’ve been someone’s house decor or a breeder’s cat. After that, he was a diabetic cat with jaundice, CKD, diabetes and FIP on the streets where he injure his leg and gets ignored for so long that the leg gets maggots and develops gangrene too. The night he passed, he was revived thrice before going into cardiac arrest the 4th time. That was when I refused to revive him anymore. He had made his mind that he was done with the works, all I’m glad about is that he had all the food, treats and cuddled he wanted in the last 15 days of his life.
