Know Your Whole Grains & Why They Matter!

Whole grains are one of the healthiest foods we can include in our daily meals. They provide fibre, vitamins, minerals, and powerful antioxidants that protect our heart, reduce diabetes risk, and improve digestion.
A whole grain contains all three natural parts of the grain. Each part is essential for good health:

1️⃣ Bran (Outer Layer): Rich in fibre, B vitamins, antioxidants; Lowers cholesterol
2️⃣ Germ (Nutrient-rich Core): Contains vitamin E, healthy fats, minerals; Supports immunity and overall body function
3️⃣ Endosperm (Starchy Center): Gives carbohydrates and protein
Make whole grains a part of every meal for a healthier, stronger you!

𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓!

The Institute for Global Development (IGD) proudly celebrates Global Handwashing Day 2025 by engaging and educating school students across three districts of Uttar Pradesh — Chandauli, Bahraich, and Gorakhpur.

Under Project Samposhan, our teams conducted interactive demonstrations on the critical steps of proper handwashing, helping children understand how this simple act can prevent infections, promote hygiene, and build healthier futures.

Handwashing with soap is one of the most effective ways to stop the spread of germs and protect health — a small habit with a big impact!

Together, let’s make hygiene a daily practice and ensure that every child grows up in a clean, healthy environment.

Wash Your Hands – Stop Worms Before They Stop You!

Every time we skip handwashing after using the toilet, invisible enemies like hookworms and other intestinal parasites get a chance to enter our bodies. These worms live in the intestine and steal blood and nutrients, leading to anemia, weakness, and poor growth, especially among children and women.

Protect yourself and your family:
a. Always wash hands with soap and clean water after using the toilet.
b. Keep nails short and clea
c. Use footwear while walking outdoors.
d. Eat well-cooked food and drink safe water.

Healthy blood, strong body — it starts with clean hands!
Let’s make handwashing a habit, not a choice.

Clean hands save lives!
This Global Handwashing Day, let’s remind ourselves that something as simple as handwashing with soap is one of the most powerful tools to prevent diseases and protect health.

Whether at home, in school, or at work — every wash counts!
Practicing personal hygiene every day keeps infections and germs away — helping you stay confident, fresh, and disease-free.

Take a daily bath – it washes away dirt, sweat, and harmful bacteria.
Wash your hands with soap and water – especially before eating, after using the toilet, and after touching common surfaces.
Brush your teeth twice a day to keep your mouth clean and healthy.
Wear clean clothes and keep your nails trimmed.

These small steps protect you, your family, and your community from illnesses like diarrhea, flu, and skin infections.

Global Handwashing Day 2025

Theme: “Clean Hands Are Within Reach”

Clean hands, healthy lives!
Every wash counts — because a simple act of handwashing with soap can save lives, stop the spread of infections, and protect families and communities from diseases like diarrhea, pneumonia, and even COVID-19.

This Global Handwashing Day, let’s remind ourselves and others that hygiene begins with us —
✅ Wash hands with soap and clean water before eating and cooking
✅ After using the toilet
✅ After touching garbage or animals
✅ Before caring for babies or the sick

Hand hygiene is not just a habit — it’s a powerful act of care and prevention.
Together, we can make “Clean Hands for All” a daily reality at homes, schools, health facilities, and workplaces.

Think your fruits and veggies are clean? Think again!
Before you bite, rinse right

Washing fruits and vegetables is one of the simplest ways to protect yourself and your family from harmful germs, pesticides, and dirt. Even those with peels or skins — like melons or cucumbers — should be washed before cutting or peeling.

✅ Rinse under running water
✅ Rub gently with your hands or a clean brush
✅ Dry with a clean cloth or paper towel
✅ Skip soap or detergent — water alone is enough!

Clean food = Safe health

A small habit that keeps you strong, safe, and healthy every day!
