🎙️ Inclusive Healthcare & Disability Rights: Voice of Healthcare × MAD Foundation

Voice of Healthcare (a leading industry-connect platform in the healthcare sector) speaks to Adv. Sara Chawla, Chief Program and Strategy Officer (CPSO) at the MAD Foundation, and a visually impaired advocate, on one of the most pressing yet overlooked issues in India today — inclusive healthcare for persons with disabilities.
As India approaches its 77th Republic Day, this conversation reflects on a difficult reality:
Despite strong constitutional guarantees, progressive laws, and international commitments, persons with disabilities continue to remain excluded from healthcare systems, public schemes, and social protection.
Drawing from the Inclusive Healthcare Coverage for All white paper by NCPEDP, constitutional law, and landmark judicial decisions, Advocate Sara Chawla discusses:
• The legal framework governing disability rights in India
• Why implementation and enforcement remain the weakest link
• Structural and attitudinal barriers faced by persons with disabilities
• The intersection of dignity, language, stigma, and access
• Why inclusion must move beyond policy intent to lived reality
This session brings together law, lived experience, and policy analysis, and calls for a shift from charity-based approaches to rights-based, accountable systems in healthcare.

An essential watch and listen for healthcare professionals, policymakers, legal practitioners, disability rights advocates, and anyone committed to building a more inclusive India.
