A group of students from the Sri Lankan Students’ Association, Delhi represented our student community at the 6th Women’s Prestige Awards 2026 – Family Picnic, organised by Lions Club Delhi in association with Naari Shakti Ek Naai Pahal Foundation, Lions Club Delhi Vegetarian, and Rajasthani Academy, and hosted at the Sri Lankan High Commission, New Delhi.

As part of the programme, our students presented a dance performance to the Sri Lankan patriotic song "Manaranjana Darshaniya Lanka" as a tribute to late Latha Valpola. In addition, two students also performed a duet song inspired by Sri Lankan stage drama music.

The event was attended by diplomats, Sri Lankan High Commission staff and their families, and members of the Lions Club. It was an honour to perform at our home away from home, in the presence of the Sri Lankan High Commission, the Counsellor, and the entire Sri Lankan High Commission staff and to represent Sri Lanka and our student community on this meaningful occasion.

It was a great honour to be part of the 77th Foundation Day of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), held at the prestigious Shankar Lal Concert Hall on 09th April 2026.

The event was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, whose presence added immense significance to the celebration. The occasion was also led by the Director General of ICCR, K. Nandini Singla, along with distinguished diplomats, ambassadors, and eminent guests from across the world.

It was especially notable that Sri Lankan students were present among a diverse gathering of international students, alongside diplomats and ambassadors. The presence of the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India, Mahishini Colonne, further added pride and significance to the occasion.

In this vibrant celebration of cultural diplomacy, the Sri Lankan student community proudly represented 🇱🇰 Sri Lanka through a traditional folk dance performance; sharing a glimpse of the island’s rich heritage, rhythm, and identity with an international audience.

From the elegance of the performances to the warmth of cultural exchange, the celebration stood as a beautiful reminder of how art transcends borders and unites hearts.
