We extend our heartfelt thanks to
Knorr-Bremse Global Care for supporting the successful completion of the first phase of the CSR project and the inauguration of the girls’ toilet facility at Sevadham School, Male Khurd, Pune, on 23 January 2026.

Beyond sanitation infrastructure, the project includes windmill-based renewable energy integrated with solar power, handwashing stations, purified drinking water, water coolers, and Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) activities to promote sustainable hygiene practices among students.

We deeply appreciate the presence and active participation of the Knorr-Bremse Global Care leadership team and volunteers, whose engagement made the occasion meaningful and inspiring for the school community.

This initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing dignity, health, and well-being for young girls. We look forward to strengthening this partnership in the next phases of the project.

The International Academy of Environmental Sanitation and Public Health (IAESPH), with the support of CSR partner Knorr-Bremse India Pvt. Ltd., organised a four-day Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) & Capacity Building Programme at Sewadham Ashramshala Trust School, Sewadham Ashram Trust, Malegaon Khurd, Pune, from 16–19 December.

The programme focused on hygiene, sanitation, menstrual hygiene management (MHM), waste segregation, and community ownership, using participatory and child-friendly approaches such as live demonstrations, storytelling, creative activities, and community outreach.

Through interactive sessions, students learned and practised:
✔️ Proper handwashing and prevention of disease
✔️ Menstrual hygiene and breaking stigma
✔️ Waste segregation and environmental responsibility
✔️ Responsible toilet usage, cleanliness, and maintenance

The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and teachers and concluded with student-led community engagement, reinforcing the message that cleanliness and hygiene must extend beyond schools into homes and communities.

Because lasting behavioural change begins with awareness, practice, and collective responsibility.

On 9June, 2025, Shri Rupesh Kumar Thakur, IAS, CEO of DUSIB, and Shri Anil Sharma, MLA (R.K. Puram), reviewed the progress of a new 24/7 toilet complex at Nepali Camp—a slum basti home to over 3,000 residents, primarily migrant families from Nepal.

This isn’t just a construction site—it’s a symbol of dignity, safety, and opportunity, especially for women and children who’ve endured decades without access to safe sanitation.

🔹 24/7 access to toilets
🔹 Water ATM for affordable, reliable water
🔹 Improved school attendance
🔹 Reduced harassment risks
🔹 Empowered women with more time for work and life

Thanks to Project SWAYAM, a partnership between Knorr-Bremse AG and Sulabh, with support from IAESPH, this initiative is setting a global example for inclusive, resilient urban development.
