Himanshu Chawla, Head โ€“ Regulatory & Research, Power Foundation of India, and Md Tariq Habib, Manager, Climate Policy Initiative - India, outlining actionable pathways for scaling Agriphotovoltaics in Indiaโ€”spanning regulatory frameworks, tariff design, and institutional mechanisms.

The discussion reflected a strong convergence of perspectives on regulatory challenges, utility integration, financing pathways, and strategies for mainstream adoption, grounded in both policy insights and operational realities.

The workshop continued with a field visit to the SAEV PVT LTD AgriPV farm, offering participants hands-on exposure to real-world implementation, effectively bridging the gap between policy frameworks and on-ground innovation.

The Power Foundation of India successfully organised the Dissemination Workshop on โ€œ๐“๐š๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐จ๐ญ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐€๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐ฉ๐ก๐จ๐ญ๐จ๐ฏ๐จ๐ฅ๐ญ๐š๐ข๐œ๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ข๐šโ€ at the Sunmaster SAEV PVT LTD AgriPV farm in Najafgarh, bringing together agriculture and clean energy in a real-world, integrated setting. Centred around the report prepared by Power Foundation of India in collaboration with the Climate Policy Initiative - India, the workshop moved beyond conventional formats to create a space where ideas were not just discussed, but experienced on-ground.

The event was enriched by the presence of distinguished speakers including Deepak Gupta, Director General, NSEFI - National Solar Energy Federation of India; Anshuman Srivastava, Executive Director, Power Foundation of India; Vivek Sen, India Director, Climate Policy Initiative - India; Ms. Kiran Gupta, Chief โ€“ Commercial, Tata Power-DDL; Shri Vikas Arora, Additional Vice President, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited; Ms. Reena Suri, Executive Director, India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF), Shri Amrit Lal Puri, Managing Director, ALPASSO INDUSTRIES PRIVATE LIMITED.

Shir. Piyush Singh, Director General, Power Foundation of India and Additional Secretary (Thermal), Ministry of Power Govt of India, shared valuable perspectives on the evolving power sector landscape and the role of innovative, land-linked renewable solutions.

The event concluded with a detailed presentation of the report, followed by a panel discussion on policy, tariff, and institutional pathways for mainstreaming Agriphotovoltaics, and a field visit to the AgriPV site, enabling participants to connect policy insights with real-world implementation.

Power Foundation of India is organising a Dissemination Workshop on its recently released report titled โ€œ Tapping the Potential of Agriphotovoltaics in India โ€ (https://lnkd.in/g8i6Er-t), on March 25, 2026, at Sunmaster's AgriPV plant, Najafgarh, Delhi.

The programme will feature insights from Policymakers, Regulators, DISCOMs, Developers, Financing Agencies and Academia. The Power Foundation of India (PFI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) on March 16, 2026, to establish the PFI Distinguished Chair Professorship on Power Sector Regulation and Policy at IIT Kanpur.

The MoU was signed by Shri Anshuman Srivastava, Executive Director, PFI, and Prof. Raja Angamuthu, Associate Dean (R&D) and Acting Dean, DoRA, IIT Kanpur. It was witnessed by Shri Himanshu Chawla, Head โ€“ Regulatory & Research, PFI, and Ms. Nidhi Varma, Assistant Registrar, Office of the Dean of Resources & Alumni, IIT Kanpur.

This Chair Professorship aims to advance research in power sector regulation and policy, while fostering meaningful collaboration between academia, policymakers, and industry stakeholders.

We look forward to this partnership contributing to deeper research, informed policy dialogue, and capacity building in the power and energy domain.
