As we celebrate and , we salute the hands that feed the nation! 🌾

We are proud to highlight the recently inaugurated Gender Responsive Cell , a collaboration between the Department of Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment, Govt of Odisha and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).

The aim: Build a and a where every woman farmer has the tools, the rights, and the voice to lead.

Odisha is no longer just including women in the agricultural conversation; the state is re-engineering its entire policy framework to put them at the center!

✨The Journey of Transformation:
The Launch (Nov 2025): Odisha made history by launching first-of-its-kind GRC within Krushi Bhawan. Supported by IFPRI's technical expertise, this cell is designed to institutionalize gender equity in every agricultural budget and scheme.

🌱Operationalizing the Vision: In February 2026 we convened an Inception Workshop in Bhubaneswar to bridge the gap between policy intent and measurable outcomes. The focus is clear: moving women producers from the "hidden workforce" to the center stage of governance.

👩‍🌾The Power of Land Rights: A key pillar of our ongoing work highlights that empowerment starts with assets. Dr. Arabinda Padhee, Dr. Mamata Pradhan, and Dr. Devesh Roy explain how secure land rights, are the ultimate gamechanger for women’s decision-making and climate resilience.

🗞️ In a recent op-ed, Odisha’s Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister, Sri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, recognized IFPRI’s role in establishing the GRC, reinforcing the state’s commitment to evidence-based, inclusive policy.

By anchoring gender at the heart of governance, we aren't just celebrating the woman farmer, we are building an agricultural future that is as resilient and unstoppable as she is!
