A meeting was held with SMT. Kumad Singh, IAS, Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department, Himachal Pradesh, and Shri. Brijmohan Sharma, Joint Controller, Legal Metrology, in the presence of Mr. Prashant Sharma, General Secretary, EDSA, and Adv. Priyanka Sharma, President, EDSA, to discuss matters relating to the regulation, compliance, and development of the Direct Selling sector.
During the meeting, discussions were held on the effective implementation of the Consumer Protection (Direct Selling) Rules, 2021, strengthening compliance frameworks for Direct Selling Entities, protection of consumer interests, and promotion of ethical business practices within the direct selling industry.
The deliberations also focused on measures to discourage and prevent unethical and misleading practices, enhance transparency, strengthen consumer confidence, and encourage responsible business conduct in accordance with the applicable legal and regulatory framework.
The importance of creating greater awareness regarding regulatory obligations, consumer rights, and industry best practices was emphasized. Views were exchanged on fostering a transparent, accountable, and consumer-centric Direct Selling ecosystem that supports both consumer welfare and sustainable industry growth.
The meeting reflected a shared commitment towards promoting ethical Direct Selling practices, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, safeguarding consumer interests, and supporting the orderly growth and development of the Direct Selling Industry in the interest of consumers and stakeholders alike.
