A mother never stops caring for her baby. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ„

When we found this little calf, she had four severe maggot wounds, including one dangerously close to her eye. After first aid and a night under the watchful eyes of her mother, she was taken to Jeevashram for treatment.

Her wounds were cleaned and dressed, and that evening, we brought her home. The moment she was reunited with her mother made the entire journey worth it. ๐Ÿ„โค๏ธ๐Ÿฎ

Their bond is a reminder that cows form strong maternal relationships with their calves. Yet in commercial dairy production, mothers and calves may be separated so that milk can be collected for human consumption.

Please look out for cows and bulls in and around your area. If you find one sick or injured, do not look away. Help them receive veterinary care immediately.

Lumpy Skin Disease is rampant, and if anyone needs proof of how little some dairy owners care for their cows, and the terrible ways in which these animals suffer after being abandoned, here is one.

Every day, around 100 animals depend on us for their meals. ๐Ÿพ

This includes 50 rescued animals living at our shelter and 50 community dogs who receive one nutritious meal every day. With the rising cost of grains, protein, fodder and cooking gas, feeding them consistently requires significant monthly support.

The monsoon also brings an increase in illness, infections and injuries, adding significantly to our medical and veterinary expenses. Along with keeping their bowls full, we need your support to ensure timely treatment and care for animals who fall sick or need medical attention.

Your contribution, no matter the amount, can help us provide food, treatment and care to the animals who depend on us every day.

Hereโ€™s a shorter, crisper version:

What if students were encouraged not just to read textbooks, but to question them?

โ€œA cow is a useful animal. It gives us milk.โ€

A simple sentence can open the door to bigger questions. What does โ€œusefulโ€ mean? Why does a cow produce milk? What happens to her calf? Whose perspective is missing?

This is what critical thinking, an essential 21st century life skill, looks like: questioning assumptions, examining different perspectives, seeking evidence and thinking beyond what is presented as fact.

Teachers can turn even an ordinary textbook sentence into an opportunity for curiosity, reasoning and compassion.

Let us teach students not just what to think, but how to think.
