Our new series of Raga(s) is here and the first session will be for two days. Link along with date and time will be available soon! We would love to introduce our first speaker with all of you!

Bhavya Kumar Saini (Alwar, Rajasthan) is a multi-skilled young personality holding immense knowledge in depth and dedicating many years of rigorous training under the Guru–Shishya tradition. He began his musical journey under many eminent artistes such as Ustad Jalaluddin Khan of the Mewati Gharana and then continued his vocal training with Vidushi Puloma Das Joshi of the Delhi Gharana, and is presently learning under Prof. Ojesh Pratap Singh (Disciple of Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar)

In addition to vocal music, Bhavya Kumar Saini has received training in Sitar from Ustad Jalaluddin Khan and Pt. Sudhir Mathur of the Maihar Gharana, and has also studied Tabla under Ustad Saddam Hussain of the Banaras Gharana.

His musical lineage is deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Hindustani classical music and Rajasthani folk music. Along with that he is currently a research scholar at University of Delhi working on the in-depth study of Gauri Ragang.

Etymology- originated from the Sanskrit word हिंडोल which translates “cradle” or “swing”. The architecture of this melody is simply like the oscillation between melodic notes (Swara-s). The emotion of this raga can be felt through either Khayal or Dhrupad style of Hindustani Classical music.

PS: Not to be confused with RAGAM HINDOLAM of Carnatic Music.
