A Note from the Co-Founder's
8th Foundation Day — July 8, 2026
Dear Friends of Samanta,
Eight years ago, we set out with a simple belief: that every child growing up in the forest villages of Uttarakhand — along the Shivalik ranges, in the periphery of Rajaji National Park & Tiger Reserve — deserves the same quality of learning, care, and opportunity as any child anywhere else. That belief became Samanta Foundation.
It has been a humbling journey. What started as a handful of conversations under the forest canopy and forest schools has grown into work across 30 schools, 11 Anganwadi Centres, reaching over 4,000 children between the ages of 3 and 14, and walking alongside more than 100 young people — many of them first-generation learners and young women — as they step into roles as educators, leaders, and change-makers in their own communities. In addition to Teacher Training for 250 Foundational stage teachers and also building capacities of Education System Leaders.
Our Whole School Transformation model, Early childhood care initiatives [Skills Enhancement for Early Development Specialists], and now the PARVAT Youth Collective are all born from years of listening closely to the communities we serve, not assuming we knew best.
As we mark eight years, we're conscious that this is still early. The decade ahead is where we want to go deeper, not just wider — developing contextual learning materials, innovating pedagogies, strengthening local leadership so that rural, tribal, forest-dwelling youth themselves drive the change, building institutions that outlast any one of us, and ensuring that "equality" (Samanta) in education stops being an aspiration and becomes lived reality for every child in these hills and forests.
None of this has been possible without our - Team members, CSR partners, Individual Donors, Mentors and Advisors, Government department officers and staff, Family Foundations, Teachers, Youth fellows, Program partnerships, and every single one of you who has believed in this work alongside us.
Here's to the next ten years.
With gratitude and resolve,
Samanta Foundation
