World Heart Day, 2026

On the occasion of World Heart Day , today on 29 September, 2026, an workshop was organised by IRCS, Darrang District Branch in collaboration with the Youth Red Cross Unit of Mangaldai Commerce College under the presidentship Sri Haren Kakati, Chairman, IRCS, Darrang District Branch. In the seminar Dr. Dhruba Jyoti Saharia, Sub Divisional Medical and Health Officer of the office of the Joint Director of Health Services, Darrang delivered speaces on significance of the Day and protection of life from critical disease; General Secretary IRCS Assam State Branch Sri Deba Prasad Sarma talk on the role of Red Cross Society for humanitarian services to people in general while the Chairman IRCS, Darrang District Branch Mr Haren Kakati talk on functioning of the Darrang District Branch IRCS and responsibility of its members for the society. IRCS Lecturer Sri Jayanta Sarmah assisted by IRCS volunteer Sri Pranab Hazarika conducted CPR demonstration before 60 students and IQAC coordinator Ujjaljyoti Sahariah and other teachers of the college. Programme was attended by IRCS life members namely Dr. Dipti Moni Baruah, Mahes Goswami, Pramod Ch Sarma. At the end IRCS, Darrang District Branch Secretary Hari Ch Sarmah delivered vote of thanks.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the birth of Jean-Henry Dunant, who was born on 8 May 1828, The World Red Cross Day, 2026 was observed today on 8 May in Mangaldai (Assam) . On this occasion Red Cross Society Flag was hoisted by the Chairman Sri Haren Kakati in the office campus of Indian Red Cross Society(IRCS) Darrang District Branch (DDB), Mangaldai at 9-30 am in presence of office bearers of IRCS DDB followed by other programmes.

Smti Ayushi Jain, IAS, District Commissioner, Darrang and President, IRCS, DDB was also felicitated on the occasion. The DC Darrang & President, IRCS, DDB wishes IRCS "All the Very Best" and best wishes for their future endeavour.

From 12-00 Noon to 1-40 pm, an awareness meeting was held in the District Jail, Mangaldai with Sri Haren Kakati in chair where other office bearers / members of IRCS DDB; District Jail Superintendent and his officers and staff and also inmates of the Jail were present.

At the outset lightning of earthen lamp & floral tribute to the portrait of Jean Henry Dunant, the Founder of Redcross by Senior Citizen and President of Mangaldai Chambers of Commerce Shri Mukul Ch. Deka. Shri Jayanta Sarmah, Treasurer, IRCS, DDB explained the purpose of the meeting. Jail Warder Sri Tufan Boro also played two "Bhupendra Sangit".

Sri Lutfur Zaman, Asstt. Professor of Mangaldai Law College delivered speeches on "the Principles of Red Cross and the IRCS theme 'United in Humanty' of this year" while Dr. Kamala Kanta Sarma, Addl. Chief Medical & Health Officer, Darrang delivered speeches on Humanitarian Values. Lecturer of Mangaldai RSETY Shri Kishor Kumar Sarma delivered speeches on "Livelihood".
One Try-cycle gifted by Shri Samudra Kr Sarma was handed over to the Jail authority by the Chairman, IRCS, DDB for needy jail inmates.

Shri Hari Ch. Sarma, Secretary, IRCS, DDB delivered vote thanks. The meeting was ended with the "Asom Sangit".

IRCS life members namely S/Sri Mahes Goswami, Pramod ch. Sarma, Amarjit Sandilya, Rasmi Sarma, Samudra Kumar Sarma, Pranab Hazarika, Dr. Dipti Moni Barua, Dhirendra Kumar Sarmah, Kiriti Bora Dibyajyoti Deka & volunteer Mridul Sarmah Malabika Deka Anil Chouhan all of IRCS DDB also present in the programme.

Reference celebration of 77 Republic Day, 2026 today. On this occasion arrangement was made by Darrang District Administration for celebration of the Republic Day by Hoisting National Flag at Mangaldai Kachari Moidan by the Respected District Commissioner, Darrang Smti Pubali Gohai, ACS. The following members / volunteers of IRCS Darrang District Branch namely S/sri 1. Dibya Jyoti Deka, 2. Niranjan Saikia, 3. Pranab Hazarika, 4. Madhu Bhatta, 5. Alauddin Ahmed, 6. Krishna Rani Deka, 7. Swhanaz Begum, 8. Sachi Kalita, 9. Dilip Bhatt, 10. Dip Jyoti Mahanta, 11. Kabirul Islam led by Sri Jayanta Sarma, First Aid Trainer of IRCS assisted jowans and other members participated in the mast past at the Kachari Moidan, Mangaldai. Hony Secretary Hari Ch Sarma and Senior Executive Member Amarjit Sandilya also present there.

Indian Red Cross Society, Darrang District Branch (Assam) distributed blankets among 70 poor old male & female persons including wedow, specially abled persons of different places of the district in office premises of IRCS, Darrang District Branch today (26.12.2025) under supervision of its Chairman Sri Haren Kakati in presence of senior Member Amarjit Sandilya, Life Members namely Pramod Sarma, Mahes Barman, Umes Deka, Jayanta Sarmah, Pranab Hazarika, all of IRCS, Darrang, Mangaldai (Assam).
