A small step… a meaningful transformation
At Sahaj Kaushalya Shala, we believe skill development is not only about learning to earn, but also about learning to manage life with confidence and dignity.
During the second cohort of our ongoing training, we introduced a simple idea — saving ₹5 every day. Considering that this is peak marriage season in tribal communities, when expenses are high and savings become difficult, we were not sure how many would be able to follow it.
After one week, when we asked the women how many had saved ₹5 daily — every single participant had done it. Many had saved more than ₹100 within a week. For families where even ₹100–₹200 matters, this was a significant achievement.
To encourage this habit, we gave each participant an earthen “gullak” and wrote their names on it. Now, every morning begins with a joyful ritual — women arrive before time and deposit their savings with pride. What started as a small activity has become a collective celebration of discipline and hope.
These moments remind us that empowerment happens through small, consistent steps: • Building the habit of saving
• Strengthening financial confidence
• Encouraging self-discipline
• Creating a supportive learning community
While earning is important, learning to save is transformation.

Educational visit by SSKK, Amreli

When Women Travel to Learn, Change Begins

Today was not just a visit. It was a meeting of journeys.

We welcomed 40 women leaders from *Shikshan ane Samaj Kalyan Kendra, Amreli*—women who come from drought-prone villages, carrying with them stories of resilience, struggle, and hope.

As they walked through Sahaj, something beautiful unfolded.

They didn’t just see products—they saw possibilities.

They didn’t just observe processes—they connected with people.

And most importantly, they saw women like themselves creating work of dignity, quality, and pride.

There were moments of quiet observation…

moments of deep questions…

and moments where eyes lit up with new ideas.

Our artisans were not just demonstrating skills—they were sharing their journeys.

Journeys of becoming… from workers to confident creators.

What made the day truly powerful was this unspoken understanding:

“If they can do it, so can we.”

And perhaps, that is where real change begins.

As the day came to a close, the learning did not feel complete—and that is the best sign.

Because it has now opened the door for something deeper.

*The group expressed their desire to return for a 3-day residential learning experience at Sahaj* to immerse themselves, to understand, and to take this learning back to their own communities.

From Amreli to Dahod, this connection is not just a visit—

it is the beginning of a shared journey of women empowering women.

At Sahaj, we have always believed:

when women learn together, they rise together.

*First Cohort Completed*
With deep gratitude and quiet pride, we celebrate the completion of the very first 50-day cohort at Kaushalya Shala.
This was not just a training — it was a journey of transformation. Through a thoughtfully woven program of tailoring skills, Jivan Kaushalya (life skills), educational games, and entrepreneurship exposure, rural and tribal women stepped into a new sense of self-belief and possibility.
*What made this journey truly special* Hands-on tailoring skills, enabling women to begin their livelihood journey • Life-skills sessions nurturing confidence, communication, and inner strength • Educational games sharpening focus, patience, and decision-making
*Each woman visualized her future by designing her own dream workspace - a powerful first step towards entrepreneurship*
In just 50 days, hesitant learners evolved into confident women, ready to shape their own paths.
The closing day was deeply moving — filled with reflection, emotion, and a shared realization that learning with dignity has the power to transform lives.
*On 16th March 2026, as Sahaj completed 25 years of its journey, this milestone was celebrated by gifting sewing machines and tailoring kits to the first cohort — enabling them to take their first step into enterprise*
We extend heartfelt thanks to all our donors, well-wishers, and friends. Your trust and support are turning dreams into reality.
