We Found Raja!!!!

We were on the sixth day of desperately looking for Raja, and it was getting hard to stay hopeful…

Then, yesterday morning, we got a call. A young man who was jogging on the beach heard a dog whimpering near the tetrapods. Most people would have kept running, but he stopped to check. When he looked down between the gaps, he saw a dog — and he realised it was Raja. He remembered the poster he had seen just the day before, and that’s what made him connect the dots and call us…

We still don’t know how Raja ended up so deep inside the tetrapods. We had checked that area many times and called out to him, but somehow we couldn’t find him… Maybe he was lost somewhere else for a few days, and when he finally managed to come closer to home, he hid in the same tetrapods he passes every day on his walk to the beach…and in the process of finally finding some safety, he dived in and injured his leg…unable to jump back on the beach…

This whole experience reminded us how powerful simple posters can be. In a time when information/images are shared on WhatsApp and our eyes are always on screens, we actually may remember very little…. But when someone notices a poster on a pillar, near a stationery shop, or on a building wall, they’re usually not on their phone. They actually look at it. They remember the face. That memory can stay with them. That’s exactly what could bring a lost dog back home….:)

Our community boy Raja is lost. He bolted during his usual walk to the beach near Kirti College… all because of one sudden firecracker from a wedding procession at Suryawanshi Hall. Someone saw from their window that he got hit by a car while bolting, and then limped and ran in fear towards Dadar beach. He was later seen near Suryavanshi beach — and after that, nothing…

Raja wasn’t an ordinary dog. He was once the alpha of our community — strong, confident — until something happened to him. We still don’t know if it was an accident or someone hit him, but it left him with a serious neurological issue. He tilts while walking, gets disoriented, sometimes confused and sometimes doesn’t recognise us immediately…He had survived paralysis once… and that’s why we are terrified now. If other dogs chase him, he cannot defend himself….We treated him in every way possible. And one of our volunteers fostered him, gave him a safe home.

As usual, that day, Raja only came down for a short beach walk with another volunteer…An unexpected firecracker… the entire pack scattered. Everyone returned in minutes. Raja didn’t…

It’s been six days of searching every lane, every corner… and nothing yet. We prepare ourselves and keep these dogs safe for festival seasons because of firecrackers, but these random wedding explosions catch us completely unprepared…

The wedding family celebrates without knowing the chaos they caused. How can such deafening noise be called celebration? How can someone’s moment of joy turn into such deep grief for another being?

If anyone around Dadar, Shivaji Park, Kirti College, Mahim, Worli, Prabhadevi sees a disoriented white dog walking with a tilt… please contact us.

We just want our Raja back….

We found Jack early this year… a tiny pup who quickly became everyone’s favourite at Agarbazaar. We fed him daily at his spot, he played, slept, grew up. Then one day he fell sick and had to be hospitalised. After his treatment, a kind lady fostered him for a few weeks till he got better…

But after you’ve known the warmth of a home, it’s hard to go back to the streets. Jack is a human’s dog, he needs touch, he needs connection. By day he seemed fine… played with his human friends his cat friends, napped peacefully by the milk booth at agarbazaar, his favourite place. But every night after his human friends went home, he bolted. Running, lost, scared and searching….

Because of the collar he had on him with our numbers, we got many calls from strangers who saw him running through the city. Each of these strangers brought him back to the milk booth at Agarbazaar. Willingly. Then last night came a message from Parel — someone sent a photo of Jack, fast asleep at night next to a homeless man. The man had nothing. No home, no comfort. But he had love. He rested his hand gently on Jack as they slept side by side.

When we went to bring Jack back, the man’s eyes filled up. He said, “He just came and slept next to me.” This city…noisy, cruel, crowded…but it still hides some kindness in its corners.

Now Jack is back with his foster. Still waiting for his forever home. If you can, open your heart to him. He’ll love you for life.

Milie was found as a motherless newborn pup in the outskirts of Mumbai in March 2025. A kindhearted lady fed her by syringe and saved her life. As she grew she seemed healthy. Unfortunately, sometime in the end of August 2025 she fell ill and was admitted into a shelter in Badlapur where tragically she wasn’t treated at all. She wasn’t even fed regularly nor given fresh water. Her rescuer was devastated at her deteriorating condition and brought her all the way to Bspca at Parel where she was diagnosed with the dreaded distemper.

Millie has been daily treated in the distemper ward at BSPCA from the 5th of October. She has shown tremendous signs of improvement and though the distemper will show in her system for the next 6 months, she is eating well and growing stronger. Blessed little soul that she is, wags her tail joyfully whenever a friendly wardboy brings her her meals! Although Bspca has done wonderful work in treating Millie it has been suggested that her recovery will be quicker and surer in a foster home where good food, a little personalised care and hygiene will prevent secondary infections. We are searching for a foster who will join us on Millie’s road to recovery.

Please help us save Millie…call to foster her, or at the very least, share her story….

Persian cats and pedigree dogs are often brought home by parents to please their children… until the reality of responsibility sets in. Then, they’re abandoned, left helpless on the streets.

That’s what happened to Chikoo, a 2-year-old Persian girl left behind by her humans. Traumatised and alone, she was rescued by Ami and Sujay, who took her in. Rescuers like them open their homes out of pure compassion, hoping that one day these animals will find families of their own…

Chikoo is neutered, vaccinated, healthy, and trained to use the bathroom instead of a litter box.

We’re sharing her story to appeal to you — to give her a real home. Not just to give her another chance, but to give humans another chance to do right. If you can give Chikoo the love she’s waiting for, please DM or WhatsApp on 9930138479 or 8433966108

The recent Supreme Court ruling to remove all street dogs from our cities and place them in shelters is absolutely inhumane— to the dogs and also to every human who has loved, cared for, and protected them…

Street animals are not intruders in our world…they share this earth with us. They are sentient beings with memories, bonds, and trust painstakingly built over years. In a matter of minutes, these bonds can be shattered forever when a van arrives to take them away…

Instead of promoting humane solutions like large-scale sterilisation, community feeding, and adoption — public education on how to safely and kindly interact with street dogs, we are choosing the path of displacement, confinement, and suffering. When dogs are cared for on the streets, they are calmer, quieter, and part of the fabric of our communities. This ruling strips them of that dignity. We must protest. We will speak up. It is our right — and their only hope. This is about compassion, justice, and the kind of world we want to live in.

So sign those petitions, fight with all you have, adopt an indie…asap!

Simba is approximately 2-3 years old. He was abandoned by his previous humans and left to survive on his own on the streets. He is currently fostered by a Mochi in Sion who can’t keep him for too long. Simba is vaccinated but not neutered. Looking for a human who will adopt and help Simba transition from living on the streets into a home. Please call on 7738176585 or 8433966108 to adopt or foster Simba.

An afternoon coffee session with a young woman aspiring to volunteer at the Foundation evolved into an inspiring and mutually enriching exchange of ideas spanning eight months. went beyond narrating the Foundation’s activities; she also played a pivotal role in initiating some of the Foundation’s projects.

While awareness campaigns, feeding, vaccinations and rescues continue to grow in numbers, social media has taken a somewhat back seat since December and Kaavya’s absence is evident on our timeline. Kaavya is now in Canada, pursuing further studies and we send loads of good vibes for all the exciting adventures that lie ahead!

For years now, Corporate Social Responsibility funding has predominantly been funnelled towards social causes that afflict humans.
This means that large-scale funding barely reaches any animal-led welfare initiatives.
The only resort? Private funding - from individuals like you.
This is not just a post, but a plea to you reading this. Do consider donating to any animal welfare NGO of your choice. Trust us that any amount is appreciated, high or low.
Bit by bit, we can help these voiceless creatures.
And if you are unable to do so, share this with someone and remind them of the difference they can make to lives of all animals in need 🐾

While you wish a Happy Ganesh Chaturthi to your loved ones, consider making this a ‘happy’ occasion for everyone around you.
The noise and smoke emitted from firecrackers affects vulnerable groups, like the elderly and animals (especially street animals), every year. And these detrimental effects go unchecked, leading to long term consequences.
This time around, say a resounding no to crackers and celebrate responsibly.
If you don’t personally partake but witness family, friends or neighbours do so, try dissuading them calmly.
And finally, keep your doors open. Spend some quality time with the elderly and spare some space for street animals in your home or compound. Give them the comfort they so seek on days like these by being a festival foster 🫶🏽🐾
