In the beginning of the year 1980,the burden to start a home for Orphan children was impressed upon the heart of our Founder and President Rev. The desire took shape in the form of a children’s Home on the thatched roof. Slowly this vision came to fulfillment with the foundation of Saviour Jesus Orphanage and Children’s Home, which was established in 1984 with 3 children. Now it is Functioning wit
h more than 150 Children. The primary focus being to minister to the children with the great compassion is to show them the Love of God and to the parental care, the SJOCH is touching these young lives with warmth and love, releasing them from guilt and shame thereby displaying the love of Christ. This project, which initially started with the Street Children, played a vital role in bringing many young lives to the family of Christ. A kind word or an embrace or even a helping hand made a great impact upon these young ones. Christian values, career guidance and personal growth were the key areas of focus. Mentoring them emotionally and spiritually was a major task that the Home undertook in order to make a difference upon their lives. Through their testimony, they were able to reach out to their unsaved relatives. Thus these young believers in Christ were successful in bringing their families to salvation. Orphanage is able to fulfill the Great Commission laid down by Jesus Christ in a unique way through these young lives. December 26, 2004 was an unforgettable day that sent a shockwave all across the globe. A national disaster in the form of Tsunami struck various parts of the South Asian countries like Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, etc. Chennai and various parts of the state of Tamil nadu were among the most affected areas of this natural calamity. Destruction caused by this catastrophe led to innumerable loss of lives living along the seashores. The victims of this gruesome tragedy were mostly the fishermen whose livelihood was affected. This is where SJCC sprung into action by giving relief to these tsunami-affected victims through the welfare program of the church. The church constructed shelters in Devanampattinam, Cuddalore. Food and other necessary provisions were provided to these casualties through SJCC to the needy areas of the East coast regions across Tamil nadu. Household articles such as kitchen utensils, mattresses, medical aid, bicycles, food materials, sewing machines, etc were also provided. Through these kind acts, the believers at SJCC came together as one body to exhibit the love of Christ. The relief operations that the church undertook truly gave hope to the lives of these victims. The Councelling Center functions as a spiritual clinic to counsel and deliver people with various needs. Those that are depressed, physically sick, demon possessed, the drug addicts and various other lonely and distressed lives are ministered through prayer and the word of God. Counseling takes place in two languages[English and Tamil]. Through fervent prayer and fasting, the Pastor and trained counselors are able to deliver the oppressed from the clutches of the evil one. Counseling staff work round the clock to bring these shattered souls to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ thereby giving them a new ray of hope and comfort to face the future. A 12-hour prayer line has also been set up which has proved to be a blessing for those with immediate and urgent needs. I had a Demonic attacks and bound by whitch craft for many years. The SJCC is playing a vital role in reaching out, ministering and guiding many to the love of Christ. Come or call us and be blessed. The goal of this project was a holistic transformation of this urban slum community. The activities that are taking place under this project are Day Care Center, Night School, Computer School, Tailoring Center, Adult Literacy and Coaching Center. These activities have helped the community in raising their self-esteem and social status as well as in drawing closer to God by reading the Word. Alongside, creating awareness campaigns like HIV/AIDS, eradication of child labor, alcoholism and drug abuse, women empowerment as well as hygienic environment are being done on a quarterly basis in the community by the youth team. Medical campaigns are underway to ensure healthy living of the project participants. The Project that started at Kanganankuppam has been a great success. This has led to the establishment of the same in many other locations at Cuddalore.
