๐ŸŒ CMAI at ETECHNXT Conference 2025 ๐ŸŒ

CMAI is proud to have served as the Knowledge Partner for the ETECHNXT Conference 2025, organized by IEEMA. As part of this event, we organized an insightful session on "CBAM & Scope 1, 2 & 3: Preparing Indian Businesses for Global Trade & Climate Policy."

The session focused on understanding the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), its implications for global trade, and how Indian businesses can prepare for the evolving climate policy landscape. ๐ŸŒฑ

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), introduced by the European Union, is designed to address carbon leakage and ensure that imported goods face the same carbon costs as EU-produced goods. This mechanism will impose a carbon price on imports like steel, cement, and chemicals, aligning them with the EU's emissions trading system (ETS).

CBAM will gradually be phased in, with full implementation set for 2026, after an initial phase starting in 2023 to track emissions. This policy aims to prevent companies from relocating production to countries with looser climate regulations, promoting cleaner production worldwide.

As global trade and climate policies become more interconnected, Indian businesses must assess their supply chains and reduce emissions to remain competitive in the global market. Being prepared for CBAM and understanding Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions is essential for ensuring compliance with international standards and staying ahead of the curve in a rapidly changing climate economy.

We are excited to continue fostering these important conversations and supporting businesses as they navigate the future of sustainable global trade. ๐Ÿ’ก

CMAI had the privilege of meeting Igor A. Semenov, Counsellor at the Embassy of the Russian Federation, to discuss a cooperative approach towards achieving Net Zero. The discussion focused on fostering collaboration under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, emphasizing how international partnerships can drive effective climate solutions.

Key areas of focus included exploring the role of green technologies and how both nations can leverage this cooperation to accelerate the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon future. Through collaboration, we can work together to address climate challenges and reduce global carbon emissions.

๐Ÿค We look forward to building stronger partnerships to advance sustainable practices and support global climate goals.
