🌿 A Proud Moment for COODU..! 🌿

We are delighted to share that Dr. S. Kathiresan, Secretary of COODU, Coimbatore, has been honoured with the Outstanding NGO / Institution Award in Agriculture at the National Conference on “Recycling and Earthworm-based Composting for Land Improvement and Agricultural Management (RECLAIM-2026)”.

The conference was organized by the Pondicherry Institute of Agricultural Sciences (PIAS) in collaboration with Annamalai University and in association with the Centre for Environment and Agricultural Development (CEAD). The event was supported by the Department of Science, Technology & Environment, Government of Puducherry and the Puducherry Council for Science and Technology.

🌿 Plantation Drive Inauguration – Green Canopy Initiative 🌿

COODU, with the support of Bosch Global Software Ltd. – CSR, successfully inaugurated a Plantation Drive at Vellalur, Coimbatore on 09 March 2026 at 10:00 AM.

🌱 Project Details:
• Area Covered: 0.75 Acres
• Plantation of Native Tree Saplings to enhance local biodiversity and environmental sustainability.

The event was inaugurated by the Chairman of Vellalur Town Panchayat, in the presence of Ward Councilors, along with enthusiastic participation from Bosch and COODU volunteers and local community members. Over 30 participants joined hands in this meaningful initiative.

This collaborative effort aims to create a green canopy, strengthen ecological balance, and promote community participation in environmental conservation.

🌿 Stakeholders Meeting & Assets Handover Function Successfully Conducted 🌿

COODU, with the CSR support of Larsen & Toubro – PES, Coimbatore successfully organized the Stakeholders Meeting and Assets Handover Function for the project “Strengthening of Water Bodies in Arisipalayam & Seerapalayam Village Panchayats” on 19th February 2026 at Arisipalayam, Madukkarai Block, Coimbatore District.

💧 The programme marked the formal handover of renovated water bodies and check dams to the Block Development Officers, Village Panchayats and Water User Groups (WUGs).

🔹 Event Highlights:

✅ Unveiling of the Activity Impact Board (Before & After Works)
✅ Recognition of Progressive Farmers & WUG Leaders
✅ Agriculture Exhibition & Machinery Demonstration
✅ Distribution of Agricultural Implements to Farmers

District officials, Block Development Officers, Agriculture Department representatives, CSR leaders, farmers, and community members actively participated in the event.

This initiative has significantly enhanced groundwater recharge, irrigation potential, and climate resilience in the region.

🌱 Farmers’ Field School (FFS) Training at Panapatti Demo Plot 🌱

As part of the Development of Watersheds for Climate Resilience Management Programme, COODU successfully organized a Farmers’ Field School (FFS) Training on 07.02.2026 at Panapatti, Kinathukadavu Block, Coimbatore District, with the support of HDB Financial Services (CSR Initiative).

The training combined expert lectures, field demonstrations, and farmer interactions, focusing on:

✅ Drip irrigation and water-efficient farming
✅ Organic farming and soil health improvement
✅ Coconut crop management and mulching techniques
✅ Livestock health, disease prevention, and free government schemes
✅ Postal savings, social security, and digital financial services

Experts from the Horticulture Department, Veterinary Department, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), and Postal Department shared practical insights to strengthen climate-resilient, sustainable livelihoods.

🌱 Watershed Committee Meeting | Strengthening Water Bodies Initiative 🌱

As part of the project “Strengthening Water Bodies in Arisipalayam and Seerapalayam Village Panchayats,” a Watershed Committee Meeting was held on 29 January 2026 at Arisipalayam Village, Madukarai Block, Coimbatore District.

The meeting brought together watershed committee members, Water User Group (WUG) members, farmers, line department officials, CSR representatives, and the COODU team to review progress, share technical guidance, and discuss future plans for sustainable water resource management.

Key deliberations included:

🌟Mr. Ganesan, Former President, Arisipalayam Panchayat & WUG Member, appreciated the watershed interventions implemented and their positive impact on local agriculture and water availability.

🌟Mrs. Susindra, Assistant Director of Horticulture, Madukarai Block, outlined various horticulture subsidy schemes, encouraging farmers to utilize government support for improving productivity.

🌟Mr. Vishnukumar, L&T PES – CSR, shared the proposed activities for the year 2026–2027, emphasizing sustainability and community ownership.

🌟Dr. S. Kathiresan, Secretary, COODU, highlighted the importance of maintenance of created watershed assets for long-term benefits.

🌟Mrs. Saitha Begam, Joint Secretary, COODU, stressed the need for active participation of women farmers in all watershed and agricultural activities.

The meeting strengthened stakeholder coordination, enhanced awareness of government schemes, and reinforced community responsibility towards sustaining watershed assets.

On 23.01.2026, COODU celebrated Green Pongal (Pasumai Pongal) at Vadasithur, Kinathukadavu, as part of the Development of Watersheds for Climate Resilience Management project.
Farmers, volunteers, and college students came together to celebrate tradition with a purpose — a greener and climate-resilient future

The celebration was conducted in a lively and participatory manner, encouraging collective involvement from farmers, youth, and volunteers. Traditional and eco-friendly games were organized to foster teamwork, joy, and awareness about sustainable living.

We are proud to share the successful completion of the Government Social Justice Girls Hostel Renovation Work and Plantation Drive at Sokkampalayam, Annur, carried out with the dedicated support of Quinbay Technologies and implemented by COODU.

🛠️ Key Activities Completed:

✔️ Renovation of damaged walls and floors
✔️ Reconstruction of compound wall and gate
✔️ White & colour washing of the entire building
✔️ Electrical repairs and fittings replacement
✔️ Drinking water pipeline & plumbing works
✔️ Restroom renovation

✔️ Campus cleaning and plantation activities

🌍 World AIDS Day 2025 – COODU’s Participation Across Three Districts🌍
“Ending AIDS by 2030 – Together, With Equality and Dignity.”

COODU proudly observed World AIDS Day 2025 across Coimbatore, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri, in partnership with TANSACS, Government departments, NGOs, positive networks, students, HRGs, and PLHIV communities.

This year’s events focused on awareness, dignity, inclusion, and the power of collective action.

🔴 COIMBATORE – COODU TI MSM Project

At Immanuel Church, the day began with a vibrant traditional drum welcome for the District Collector Thiru. Pavankumar G., IAS, followed by a series of impactful activities:
✨ Auto Awareness Stickering Launch
✨ Signature Campaign & HIV Oath
✨ Candle-Light Tribute
✨ Awareness speech by DHO Dr. Balu Samy
✨ Sama Bandhi Virunthu – Equal Community Meal

Over 150 participants, including 50+ PLHIV, HRGs, NGOs, and volunteers joined the event.

The Collector’s participation in the shared meal sent a strong message of equality, acceptance, and zero stigma.

🔴 KRISHNAGIRI – COODU TI Core Composite Project

With the participation of the Collector, Deputy Collector, DAPCU, ART team, and local colleges, the district observed the day with:
🔥 Candle Lighting
🔥 Oath Taking
🔥 Signature Campaign
🔥 Human Chain for HIV Awareness
🔥 Equal Meal Ceremony (Samabanthi Bojanam)

The Deputy Collector awarded 20 PLHIV members for their courage and active participation.

Nearly 290 people took part, including HRGs, students, officials, and community members.

🔴 DHARMAPURI – COODU Link Worker Scheme (LWS)

Dharmapuri witnessed one of the largest gatherings with 350 direct participants and 2000+ people witnessing the human chain.
