Wildlife Awareness & Field Learning | Ponnuthu Amman Temple

TREE NGO, in collaboration with the Coimbatore Forest Division, conducted a field visit for 40 Forensic Science students from Karunya University at Ponnuthu Amman Temple, Coimbatore.

Mr. Sathish Ramamoorthy conducted an awareness session and explained the importance of wildlife protocols, field ethics and responsible documentation.

Dr. Prabu, Veterinary Doctor, explained key veterinary and medical terms related to wildlife, giving students valuable insights into wildlife health and field investigations.

The session was further enriched by the special presence of Thiru. N. R. Bhuvanesh, IFS, Conservator of Forests, Coimbatore Headquarters, who delivered an inspiring motivational address to the students.

A meaningful field-based learning experience connecting forensic science, wildlife conservation and field investigation.

3rd Week | 52 weeks, Forest Clean-up Initiative – Nanmangalam Forest

As part of our one-year, every-week forest clean-up initiative, TREE NGO, in collaboration with the Chennai Forest Division – Nanmangalam Forest Range, conducted the 3rd week clean-up drive with student volunteers from New Prince Shri Bhavani College.

Together, the volunteers collected 100+ kg of plastic waste, bottles and other litter from the forest fringe.

Ms. Gayathri, Chennai Coordinator, TREE NGO, conducted an awareness session for the students on the harmful impacts of plastic pollution on nature, wildlife and ecosystems.

The collected recyclable waste was handed over to Bisleri – Bottles for Change for responsible recycling.

TREE NGO & Attavi Bird Foundation | Bird Walk at Kuruchi Kulam, Coimbatore

On 15th August, TREE NGO, in collaboration with Attavi Bird Foundation, conducted a bird walk at Kuruchi Kulam, Coimbatore, recording an impressive 53 bird species.

A special highlight was the sighting of two notable shorebirds — Kentish Plover and Tibetan Sand Plover — highlighting the importance of Kuruchi Kulam as a valuable wetland habitat for resident and migratory birds.

The walk offered participants an opportunity to observe, document and appreciate the rich avian diversity of this urban wetland.

World Elephant Day 2026

On World Elephant Day, TREE NGO, in association with the Coimbatore Forest Division, organised a clean-up drive along the Thadagam Valley – Mangarai to Anaikatti stretch.

đź’š 35 volunteers from Meltwater joined the initiative, helping remove 300+ kg of plastic waste, bottles and other litter from the elephant corridor.

The collected recyclables were handed over to Bisleri – Bottles for Change for recycling.

World Elephant Day 2026 | Supporting Our Frontline Heroes

On the occasion of World Elephant Day 2026, TREE NGO, in association with the Coimbatore Forest Division, supported the frontline staff working tirelessly for elephant conservation by providing essential uniform materials.

These dedicated frontline teams work every day in the field to monitor, protect and conserve elephants while helping reduce human–elephant conflict.

Nanmangalam Forest Cleanup Drive – Week 3

The Week 3 cleanup drive at Nanmangalam Reserve Forest was successfully carried out by TREE NGO in collaboration with the Chennai Forest Division, with the support of Bisleri – Bottles For Change.

Together, volunteers worked to remove plastic waste from the forest, reinforcing our shared commitment to protecting biodiversity and preserving one of Chennai's valuable green spaces.

TREE NGO successfully conducted a bird walk at Senkulam Lake, bringing together nature enthusiasts to explore and appreciate the rich birdlife of this important wetland.

A total of 39 bird species were recorded during today's survey, highlighting the ecological significance of Senkulam Lake and the need to protect and conserve its biodiversity.

Nanmangalam Forest Boundary Plastic Cleanup Drive – Week 1 Successfully Completed 🌿

The Nanmangalam Forest Boundary Plastic Cleanup Drive was successfully organized by the Chennai Forest Division, TREE NGO, and Bisleri – Bottle for Change, with the enthusiastic participation of NSS volunteers from the Madras School of Social Work (MSSW).

This marks the successful completion of Week 1 of our 42-week long-term cleanup initiative, dedicated to reducing plastic pollution and protecting the rich biodiversity of the Nanmangalam Forest ecosystem.

Through consistent weekly action, we aim to create a cleaner forest boundary, inspire community participation, and promote responsible environmental stewardship.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every volunteer, partner, and supporter who joined us in making this first step a success.

This conservation initiative was coordinated by Ms. Gayathri, Coordinator, TREE NGO.

TREE NGO, in collaboration with the Coimbatore Forest Division and Zone by The Park Coimbatore, successfully organized a cleanup drive at the Maruthamalai foothills.

Together with dedicated volunteers, we removed plastic waste and other litter from this ecologically sensitive forest fringe, helping to protect wildlife and preserve the natural beauty of the Western Ghats. Every piece of waste removed is a step towards a cleaner habitat and a safer future for our forests and wildlife.

A heartfelt thank you to the Coimbatore Forest Division, Zone by The Park Coimbatore, and every volunteer who contributed their time and effort to this meaningful conservation initiative.
