Bird Walk at Nilgiri Biosphere Nature Park

TREE NGO conducted a guided bird walk for M.Sc. students of VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science at the Nilgiri Biosphere Nature Park.

The session introduced students to bird identification, field observation, habitat understanding and the importance of birds in maintaining healthy ecosystems. A hands-on experience in nature helped students connect classroom learning with real-world biodiversity.

Bird Walk | Nilgiris Biosphere Nature Park, Anaikatti

On 13 August, TREE NGO, in collaboration with Attavi Bird Foundation, conducted a bird walk at Nilgiris Biosphere Nature Park, Anaikatti, recording an impressive 38 bird species.

One of the highlights of the walk was the sighting of migratory birds, offering participants an opportunity to understand the seasonal movement of birds and the importance of protected habitats.

The walk also created awareness about the ecological significance of the Biosphere Park and the need to protect wildlife, forests and natural ecosystems.

Participants explored the reserve forest, observed and documented birds, and experienced the rich avian diversity of the landscape.

Every bird is a reminder of the importance of protecting the habitat it depends on.

Clean-Up Drive & Bird Walk | Sengulam Lake, Coimbatore

On 12 August, TREE NGO, in collaboration with the Coimbatore Forest Division and Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission, successfully conducted a Clean-Up Drive at Sengulam Lake, Coimbatore.

Dedicated volunteers from Vivekalaya’s Prakriya International School actively participated in removing plastic waste, bottles and other litter from the lake surroundings.

The initiative focused not only on keeping the wetland clean, but also on creating awareness among young minds about responsible waste management and the importance of protecting natural habitats.

Following the clean-up, a Bird Walk was conducted to help participants explore Sengulam Lake, observe its birdlife and understand the ecological importance of the wetland and its biodiversity.

From cleaning the habitat to discovering its biodiversity, every experience is a step towards building a stronger connection with nature.

Environmental Education | Ashokapuram Model School

TREE NGO, in collaboration with the Coimbatore Forest Division and Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission, successfully conducted an Environmental Education Programme at Ashokapuram Model School.

As part of the programme, 100 students creatively transformed waste plastic into 100 useful and creative art & craft products, learning that discarded materials can be reused instead of becoming environmental pollution.

Mr. Sathish Ramamoorthy guided the students throughout the activity, encouraging them to think creatively, understand the impacts of plastic waste, and discover practical ways to reduce and reuse waste.

The programme was designed to move beyond classroom learning — giving students a hands-on experience of how creativity and responsible choices can contribute to a cleaner environment.

Aachankulam | Learning, Cleaning & Connecting with Nature

TREE NGO, in collaboration with the Coimbatore Forest Division and Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission, joined hands with Kovai Vidyamandir School for an Environmental Education and Cleanup Programme at Aachankulam.

With the enthusiastic participation of 40 students from Kovai Vidyamandir School, the programme focused on creating a deeper understanding of wetlands, biodiversity and our responsibility towards protecting natural ecosystems.

As part of the programme, the students actively participated in the cleanup drive, taking a step towards keeping the Aachankulam wetland clean and healthy.

Ms. Banumathi from Aachankulam Pathukapu Amaipu shared the history and importance of Aachankulam, giving the students an opportunity to understand the heritage and ecological significance of their own local waterbody.

The learning continued beyond the cleanup. Mr. Sathish Ramamoorthy guided the students through a bird walk around the lake, where they explored the wetland, observed birds and learned about the role of wetlands in supporting birdlife and biodiversity.

It was more than a cleanup drive — it was a day of action, learning, exploration and connection with nature.

A special appreciation to the students and teachers of Kovai Vidyamandir School for their enthusiastic participation and commitment towards creating a cleaner and more nature-conscious future.

Bird Walk at Kolarampathy Lake | Coimbatore

TREE NGO, in collaboration with Ataavi Bird Foundation, conducted a bird walk at Kolarampathy Lake, Coimbatore, where participants recorded 40+ bird species.

But this was more than just a bird walk — it was an opportunity to explore nature, understand the wetland ecosystem and discover the natural history of Coimbatore through the birds and landscapes around us.
