Chumoukedima, June 5, 2025: In observance of World Environment Day 2025, the Altrura Society (AuS) in collaboration with the Chumoukedima Forest Range under the Dimapur Forest Division, Government of Nagaland, undertook a tree sapling distribution campaign in line with this year’s global theme “Ending Plastic Pollution.”
The Society distributed tree saplings to various educational and community institutions, including Hebron Higher Secondary School, Sovima; Christian Mission School, Seithekiema Basa; Government Primary School, Tenyiphe-1 E Khel; and Seithekiema Basa Baptist Youth Department. The initiative aimed to raise awareness on sustainable environmental practices and encourage greener community participation in combating climate change and pollution.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ketousilie Meru, President AuS, emphasized the organization’s longstanding commitment to environmental protection. 'Every year, Altrura Society aligns its actions with the global environmental movement. This year’s effort to distribute tree saplings is a small but meaningful step towards a cleaner and greener future. By engaging schools and youth, we hope to inspire long-term stewardship of our natural resources,' he stated.
The Society expressed its gratitude to the Chumoukedima Forest Range officials for their continued support and collaboration in fostering environmental consciousness in the region.
The Altrura Society reaffirmed its dedication to working towards sustainable ecological practices in Nagaland, especially through grassroots engagement and community-driven initiatives.
