MEASI Elections
Random Thoughts and Personal Views about The New College and the MEASI Elections
The New College is a great institution with a proud legacy of 75 years. It was founded and nurtured under the aegis of MEASI by visionary leaders of the Muslim community from different parts of Tamil Nadu, who came together with a shared vision, transcending regional, linguistic, and other barriers.
Democracy is, undoubtedly, a great virtue. At the same time, democratic processes can sometimes create differences and divisions, even within institutions that have historically stood united.
It is heartening to see well-educated and distinguished personalities—including judges, senior administrators, educationists, industrialists, and businessmen—contesting the MEASI elections with a desire to serve their Alma Mater. Without any bias or prejudice, I personally believe that, although two groups may appear to have emerged, there are eminent and capable individuals on both sides who are willing to contribute their services to the institution.
Ultimately, it is for the eligible voters to exercise their wisdom and make their choice based on the merits, credentials, vision, and commitment of each candidate.
It is, however, unfortunate if differences of opinion or institutional interests become a cause for division within an organisation that has such a rich history and a shared legacy. MEASI and its institutions have always been strengthened by unity, collective leadership, and a common commitment to their larger educational mission.
May Almighty Allah guide all those responsible for this temporary and, hopefully, avoidable division, and bless them with wisdom, understanding, and the spirit of reconciliation.
May Allah Almighty continue to bless MEASI, The New College, and all its institutions, and preserve the unity and fraternity that have been the foundation of their success.
We also fondly remember and miss stalwarts such as U. Md. Khalilluah, Hashim saheb and Elias Sait, whose contributions and presence remain part of the cherished history of our institution.
