You thought paraplegic dogs spend their lives sad, lonely, and waiting for someone to feel sorry for them. But look at them. Running (their own way), playing, making friends, demanding treats, wagging their tails, and living life with so much joy. Their disability doesn’t define them. All they need is love, care, and a chance. ❤️

Meet Tokyo. ❤️
We named our dogs after Money Heist characters, Rio, Berlin, and Tokyo. That’s how she got her name. When Tokyo was just 6–7 months old, she was hit by a vehicle and rescued by a worker from the local pounds. She spent nearly a month there before someone called and asked if we could take her in. We said yes. Tokyo was one of our very first paraplegic rescues. She was scared, in pain, and physiotherapy wasn’t easy. But with months of patience, love, and daily therapy, she slowly began walking again. She regained the use of one leg, while the other never fully recovered. Today, at around six years old, she still walks with a limp, but every step is a reminder of her incredible strength. Tokyo isn’t just one of our oldest rescues. She’s one of the reasons we believe that healing, hope, and second chances are always worth fighting for. ❤️

Meet Regal. ❤️
Seven years old today, but his journey with us began nearly five years ago. When Regal was rescued, he was living in a pile of garbage. He was paralysed, painfully thin, covered in mange and bleeding sores, and had almost lost the will to live. Today, he’s a happy, cheeky boy who keeps all the other dogs on their toes. His fur has grown back, his wounds have healed, and although he’s still paralysed, he never lets that stop him from living life to the fullest. Regal is proof that love, patience, and a second chance can change everything. ❤️ If you’d like to support Regal and dogs like him, you can virtually adopt one of our rescues or contribute towards their care.

They cannot tell us where it hurts. Machines help us find out.

When a rescued animal arrives at our hospital, an X-ray, blood test or ultrasound can mean the difference between life and death.

We’re raising funds to purchase these life-saving diagnostic machines so that no animal has to suffer simply because the right equipment isn’t available.

Under the Tamil Nadu Animal Welfare Board (TNAWB), led by Ms. Shruthi Vinodhraj, significant strides were made in advancing animal welfare across Tamil Nadu and creating greater opportunities for NGOs to participate in Animal Birth Control (ABC) programs. Through this leadership, a more collaborative and compassionate approach to community animal welfare was fostered.
Today, MARS is proud to be working with the Panchayats of Thiruporur, Tirukazhukundram, and Mahabalipuram, carrying out Animal Birth Control (ABC), Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV), DHPPi vaccination, and microchipping programs for community dogs. As part of this initiative, 102 ABC surgeries have already been successfully completed, contributing to humane and sustainable community dog population management.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude for the vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to animal welfare that helped make these opportunities possible. We also thank TNAWB for its continued support in strengthening animal welfare initiatives and fostering meaningful collaboration between government bodies and NGOs. The impact of these efforts will continue to be felt in every life protected, every community served, and every step taken toward a more compassionate future for animals.
