The Jumma Minority Welfare Society (Regd.) is an organization of public charitable trust of India based on socio-economic concept was established in 9th May 2013. It has long vision to work for the welfare of jumma people in the state of Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Assam. The society has its own aim & objects to improve the socio-economic parameters’ of basic amenities for improving th
e quality of life of the people and reducing imbalance in the backward area. The society will provide amicable solutions to protect dignity, unity & integrity of people and shall active in jumma inhabited areas in India to spread love and caring for one another of religion, caste and creed. The Jumma people depend on “JUM”(shifting cultivation) and producing food-grains like paddy, maize, sesame, potato, sugarcane and other spices etc..The jumma people have their own Games, Art & Culture. The jumma (chakmas) people make their traditional dress for wearing and house work purpose. Mostly the women make it by weaving own selves with the help of own made artificial items like Taglok, Biong, Boahadi, Socekbas and different type of Cotton with different colors make like Peennon, Hadi, Aalam, Pajjara, Borgi etc. The jumma (chakmas) people biggest festival is Bizu and it’s celebrating mainly for three days Pulbizu, Mulbizu and Goccepoccedin.
