In India under Modi, women are harassed for using swear words, while those abusing them, threatening them with r*pe, doxxing them, walk free!

In the days following the historic student-youth movement across the country, which shattered the arrogance of the fascist Modi Government, forcing it to give in to the demand of the Education MInister’s resignation, a malicious and vindictive campaign is being launched by the fascists, particularly against female protestors. Women protesters accused of "insulting" the Prime Minister have faced online harassment, including death and r*pe threats, doxxing, and the circulation of their personal information.

Several right-wing X handles shared photos and videos of women protesters, disclosing their personal details, urging their followers to "teach them a lesson." One woman protester was declared "most wanted" in viral posts that urged users to help locate her and share information about her whereabouts. Her details, including name and city, and a copy of a Zero FIR registered in Noida was circulated online after she was accused of "abusing" Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This must not be reduced to an isolated X campaign, but understood as a manifestation of the anti-women ideology of the BJP and the Sangh Parivar. We must not forget how male personnel of the Delhi Police and the RAF, working on behest of fascist Modi government, attacked the sensitive parts of women's bodies during the brutal crackdown on students and youth while they were peacefully marching towards Parliament. This is nothing but sexual harassment. Furthermore, recently, T.G. Mohandas, an RSS ideologue and former head of the BJP's intellectual cell in Kerala, directed highly explicit and offensive slurs at female demonstrators, claiming that "secular, leftist, and democratic women" who participate in protests "enjoy being gang-r*ped" and would not file complaints because they "like being r*ped." Kangana Renaut too jumped on the bandwagon to prove her loyalty, claiming that this is a “Gutter generation”, whose women are “ugly” and enjoy “drugs, drinking and body counts”. These misogynistic and patriarchal remarks by leaders of the BJP and the RSS, the actions of the police and security forces, and the relentless online harassment by Sanghi bots and troll accounts are the expected manifestations of an ideology whose foremost teacher, VD Savarkar, advocated for the use of r*pe as a political tool!

In the midst of all of this, the Prime Minister, following his newly acquired and much ridiculed habit of making reels, made a reel claiming to forgive the women who had insulted him, while completely avoiding the real questions: isn’t it the Prime Minister and his BJP government that are responsible for the brutal violence launched against students on the streets of this country? Isn’t he morally culpable for the grave injuries to children, women, elders alike? Is it not the state police forces and Sangh Parivar that must apologise for the blatant sexual harassment, misogyny and brutality against young women who were protesting for a better education system? Modi went further and invoked the dignity of his mother, while dodging the question of the dignity and safety of the thousands of young women who are being harassed by state forces and by the IT cell of his own party.

Disha Students' Organization strongly condemns this harassment of young women by fascist forces and the state machinery. It calls upon students and youth to recognise the deeply patriarchal and misogynistic character of the Sangh Parivar and to isolate it from every arena of society. Our society needs the revolutionary unity of students and youth, to struggle against the fascist attack on education, democracy, against women and students-youth. We must continue to oppose and expose these fascist organisations and individuals, who are unable to digest the fact that women have moved beyond the confines of the kitchen and are shattering the Führer-like ego of their perceived "supreme leader” and their treasured patriarchal values.

Oppose All Sorts of ‘Show-biz’ Politics and Lime-Light Politics of Optics and Credit-Mongering

TIME TO TAKE THE MOVEMENT FORWARD!

We, from Disha Students Organization, had been cautioning the thousands of students-youth gathered at Jantar-Mantar and the hundreds of thousands of students-youth participating in the present movement in the entire country that we must not vacate Jantar-Mantar and the protest sites in all other cities, merely on the basis of the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhaan before the following fundamental demands are met, we must not vacate Jantar-Mantar and the protest sites in all other cities, merely on the basis of the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhaan: withdrawal of all FIRs and cases against all protesters unconditionally, release of all detained/arrested protesters unconditionally, and at least formation of a high-level enquiry on the conduct of Delhi Police in Delhi and other state police departments which resorted to most inhumane and brutal forms of repression including firing live rounds, pellet guns, use of shock batons, nailed lathis, etc. and molestation and sexual harassment of women students.
These were the minimum non-negotiable demands for most of the students who were protesting. However, without any democratic General Body Meeting at the Jantar-Mantar, without any referendum among the protesting students, our friends in the CJP delegation asked the students to withdraw the agitation “with immediate effect” during the joint press conference with cabinet minister Mr. J. P. Nadda and another minister on 25th July, merely on the basis of verbal assurances about police cases, arrests and detentions and police brutality.

We, from Disha, sincerely believe that it was a mistake, regarding which we had been cautioning with a written pamphlet that the Modi government and other NDA and BJP state governments will immediately plunge themselves into vengeful repression against the students and activists and we must not de-occupy our protest sites without the aforementioned four demands are met in practice. This is precisely what is happening right now (the pamphlet distributed by Disha is attached in our bio).

We, from Disha, also cautioned students-youth (and most of them agreed) that we must not be too fixated on one singular demand of resignation of Dharmendra Pradhaan as it will dilute the very idea of structural reforms in the education and exam system. Our demand was not this: “let us be cheated by someone else than Dharmendra Pradhaan”! Now that Pradhaan has resigned, what did we get in return? Prahlad Joshi, a vocal supporter of rapists and murderers of the Bilkis Bano case and a well-known stooge of the RSS. What kind of education system will he provide?

What else did we get besides the ridiculous theatrics of PM Modi? A high-powered committee for exam reforms led by neo-con technocrat Nandan Nilekani! Who are the other members? They include Tapan Deka (ex-IB director)! What the hell is he doing there? V. Kamakoti, director of IIT Madras who claimed cow-urine has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal qualities, can be used to cure high fever and that he himself regularly consumes a mix containing cow-urine and cow-dung (panchgavya)! Does our country lack rational and scientific pedagogues and educational specialists? IS THIS WHAT WE FOUGHT FOR AND LITERALLY SPILLED OUR BLOOD FOR?

On the other hand, disgraced Pradhaan, responsible for the institutional murder of nearly two dozen students due to paper leaks, is felicitated, garlanded and welcomed with slogans by the BJP MPs in the Parliament!
It is very clear now that 25th July should not have been the day of ending our struggle and occupation of protest sites in a jiffy and this unilateral decision by the friends of CJP was entirely undesirable and wrong. Moreover, this, too, became very clear that two basic demands needed to be fulfilled for any beginning of structural reforms in education and exam system were these: dissolution of NTA and revocation of the NEP-2020. These, too, should have been non-negotiables, but everything was reduced to Pradhaan’s resignation! From Disha, we raised these questions again and again through pamphlets (this pamphlet, too, is attached in our bio). Before the mass of students and youth gathered at all the protest sites could comprehend, internalize and adopt these demands as their own, the protest was prematurely called off by friends of CJP in a unilateral fashion.

Now, our friend from CJP, Saurav Das is releasing a statement saying that the “youth of the country decided to withdraw the agitation” based on good faith and now the BJP government is destroying that mutual trust! Sorry, Saurav, that is not true at all! The protesting youth and students of the country did not decide to call off the agitation immediately on the basis of verbal assurances of a government which nobody trusts and which has not fulfilled a single promise or assurance in the last 12 years! They were not even consulted about this decision. It was the CJP delegation which withdrew the agitation with “immediate effect” to borrow from Mr. Nadda! The leadership of CJP should have held a GBM of all protestors gathered in order to organize a referendum on these questions and whether we can trust the BJP government on their oral assurances, especially in the light of your own observations after your first meeting with J. P. Nadda that “he is a fraud” and this government cannot be trusted! We do not question your intent or honesty right now, but certainly this decision was undemocratic and naïve and amounted to playing into the hands of Nadda and BJP government. So kindly take this as a criticism that co-travelers make about each other.

Since the last 3 days, imprisoned students and activists are awaiting the promises to be fulfilled. Their relatives, friends and other justice-loving people are full of anger due to this serious breach of trust. To the anger and irritation of millions of students, not only the CJP, but some other organizations, too, are issuing celebratory statements repeatedly, one after another, that they have won “one more victory”, as the Bihar government, Assam government have promised to take back all FIRs and release all protesters, after their threat of resuming the struggle! However, this, too, is premature celebration and optics because Bihar government has put a condition: all protesters arrested before 6 PM of 26th July will be released and all FIRs registered before that deadline will be withdrawn!

Now, every student of Bihar knows that it is a trap because on most of the students detained before that deadline, FIRs were slapped later. SO, the Bihar Police will show that most of the detained and arrested protesters were arrested after this deadline! And that is what Bihar Police is doing! We are getting reports that the list of to-be-released protesters has only 27 names! Why did you accept this condition? Why any such deadline? You should have objected to this condition right away instead of prematurely proclaiming “another victory”. Our demand should have been UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE OF ALL PROTESTERS AND UNCONDITIONAL WITHDRAWAL OF ALL FIRs! Including against those who have previous criminal cases, because all of us know that every student activist has been framed in this or that false case by the police in every state and in Delhi. They are not CONVICTS! If previous criminal cases are to be ground of non-withdrawal of cases and refusal to release, then shouldn’t 70 percent of the MPs and MLAs be barred from even fighting elections and be behind bars? Clearly enough, the Supreme Court, too, is giving an opportunity to the BJP government to continue to harass the protesting students-youth. On the top of that, BJP state governments are adding their own conditions to the release of students-youth and the withdrawal of FIRs.

But CJP’s several celebratory statements about “one more victory” on such fraudulent proclamations of the BJP’s state governments is to capitulate on this central demand of unconditional withdrawal of all FIRs and unconditional release of all students and youth arrested or detained during our protests everywhere, and amounts to play into the hands of the government. Our appeal to friends of CJP is simply this: Please do not do this if you do not want to lose the trust of student and youth masses.

Some other organizations and student leaders, too, have made fraudulent claims that after their visits to some state/states or their threats to resume agitation, these state governments suddenly froze out of fear and declared that all students will be released and all FIRs will be withdrawn! No such thing has happened and any such claim holds no water. The truth is this: none of these demands have been fulfilled till now.

Such political practice is an example of show-biz politics, lime-light politics, optics politics and false credit-mongering in the hope of converting it into votes ultimately. That is the conditio sine qua non of this politics. We appeal to such student leaders and organizations, not to indulge in such politics. It creates illusion among student and youth masses, makes them lose their revolutionary vigilance. It will harm the entire movement that is ongoing and which has great potential of resumption on even more radical political lines and on an even larger scale.
We call upon all students and youth to be prepared to resume our struggle because the BJP government is stabbing us in the back by going back on the assurances given on 25th July. If we do not continue to fight, the BJP government at the centre and those in the states will organize a witch-hunting against protesting students and youth even in the future so that we can be “taught a lesson” and never dare to raise our voice against injustice. We must be prepared to re-occupy our protest sites again to resume our peaceful struggle. It is our democratic right. It is our constitutional right. And nobody can take this right away from us.

Administrative Negligence is responsible for the death of a student due to electrocution at Panjab University, Chandigarh!

Improve basic infrastructure across the Panjab University campus!!

Comrades, a tragic incident took place this morning at Panjab University, Chandigarh, where Jyoti, a PhD scholar in the Department of Microbiology, lost her life after suffering an electric shock. The incident occurred while she was walking from her hostel to her department along an unpaved road. People present at the spot immediately tried to help her, but she succumbed to her injuries before she could be taken to the hospital. While the exact source of the electric current has not yet been conclusively identified, one thing is beyond doubt: this tragedy is the result of administrative negligence.

This comes despite the fact that the University administration had allocated ₹11.69 crore for infrastructure development and another ₹5.50 crore for upgrading the electrical system in its 2026–27 budget. The incident lays bare the grim reality of Panjab University's infrastructure on the ground.

Disha Students' Organisation expresses its deepest grief over Jyoti's untimely death and holds the University administration accountable for this preventable tragedy. Following the incident, students demonstrated outside the Vice-Chancellor's office, forcing the Vice-Chancellor to come out and assure the protesting students that action would be taken.

We demand:

1. A thorough and impartial inquiry into the incident, and the immediate dismissal of the officials found responsible.
2. Immediate repair and upgradation of the University's electrical system, roads, and all other essential infrastructure across the campus.
3. Regular inspection and maintenance of electric poles, street lights, and all other electrical installations on campus.
4. Adequate compensation for the bereaved family of the deceased student.

The protest against paper leaks and the privatization and commercialization of education continues today at Sector 17 Plaza, Chandigarh. Students and youth once again gathered to raise their voices against the BJP government's continued failure to ensure a fair and accountable examination system. Despite the persistence of the movement, those in power remain unwilling to address the root causes of paper leaks and the deepening privatization of education.

This protest must be seen as a part of the broader nationwide movement against paper leaks and the commercialization of education. Alongside the continuing sit-in at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, students and youth are organizing protests and campaigns in different parts of the country, reflecting the growing anger against policies that have pushed the education system deeper into crisis.

The struggle must continue beyond protest sites and reach educational institutions, working-class localities, and residential areas through sustained campaigns. Only a broad, organized, and militant student-youth movement can challenge the policies that have commercialized education and undermined the future of millions.

22 July • A joint protest against the brutality that was unleashed by the delhi police and paramilitary forces on the students who were marching to the Parliament on 20th July was organised by various organisations in Chandigarh at sector 17 Plaza today.

Students who have been protesting against and demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan along with scrapping NTA at Jantar Mantar, Delhi since over a month now, had given a call for a peaceful march to the Sansad Bhavan. Instead of accepting the demands and having a dialogue with the students, the fascist government decided to resort to their usual tactics of terrorising the students to break their will. Students were brutally lathi charged, beaten mercilessly, were attacked by personnels without any name plate and even without uniform, were dragged and made to face the tear gas.

Hundreds of students were hospitalised, thousands were injured with various severity levels. The whole event exposed the anti student character of the government and their military forces.

In solidarity with the students of Delhi and in support of their rightful demands, along with Disha Students' Organization various student organizations including PSU lalkaar, Naujawan Bharat Sabha, SFS, AISA, Panjabnama, AFDR, SAAKHI, SOPU and Pol Sci Students(PU) came together against an ailing and unaccountable education system that has affected the lives of crores of students and has taken the lives of many.

Slogans against the ruling govt, its ministers and the incompetent institutions that are continuously failing were raised by hundreds of students and justice loving citizens who had joined the protest. It was jointly decided to have regular sit-ins from today onwards and to ultimately turn it into an indefinite protest.

Students of Panjab University gathered today at the Student centre to oppose the entry of speakers from RSS invited by the university authorities and the police repression that the organisations faced while opposing the "guests" in the morning.

As the call from the CJP protest being held at delhi was given to the students of Panjab University, the two protests were merged together.

Speakers from various organisations spoke on the issues from the event organised in the university to CJP protest at Delhi to Ken Betwa project in Madhya Pradesh and everything else in general.

Disha too spoke on the tendencies of fascism in india and the character of CJP and the struggle ahead.

Later a march from the student center to the university market was taken out while continuously raising the revolutionary slogans.
