🌸 Visiting Shanti India School
At Bodhgaya at the evening at the second day of my visit, I went to the Tara Guesthouse, which is founded and run by Dominique and Anuj, a to Mingur Rinpoche devoted couple. The guesthouse (I visited 2019 the first time) functions as a source for funds, which are used to maintain the Shanti India school. In 2019 the school had around 60 students and is having now around 900 students. What an amazing growth!

🌸 Influenced by the spiritual guide Mingur Rinpoche
Naveem gave me a tour at the school, which started by attending the morning meditation. The curriculum is heavly influenced by the guidence of Mingur Rinpoche, who is the spiritual head of the school. Mingur Rinpoche has a monastery - Tergar Monastery - which is very close to Miya Bigha, the area where Nanka is living.
The tour continued by visiting at least 10 classes, where diffrent subjects, like English, Hindi, Math, and Computer Applications where held. This privat school is an alternative to the public school system, where the English language is neglected. Aside the western curriculum, ethics are playing a crucial part in the education of the students.

🌸 Community Gardening, Tree planting and Permaculture
I was amazed about the dedication of Naveem and his team. On the next day after learning more about the Shanti India Team, I had a chat with Dominique (Director of the Shanti India School) and Anuj (Manager of the Shanti India School). Their outlook are more comprehensive in terms of the development of the societiy of Bodhgaya. A society, which formerly consisted of manly farmers. Today, large real estate companies are buying up land, leading to the displacement of villagers who have lived there for generations. A lot of them become day laborer. The idea is, giving back their heritage, by creating community space for farming. At Awareness Days, which are held at the school, the villagers of Bodhgaya are thought about healthcare, an emergency aid program, food supplies, waterpumps and a clean Bodhgaya.
🌸 The Future of Bodhgaya Food Aid
Nanka and I are planing to cooperate with Shanti India School and the team around Dominique, Anuj, Ravi (pricipal and English teacher), Naveem, Prince and the Tara Guesthouse team.
Since we pursue similar goals and Bodhgaya Food Aid's immediate help for the villagers of Miya Bigha is very limited, cooperation between Shanti India and our organization is beneficial for both sides.
Education is key. We would like to support the development towards an emancipatory, self-determined way of life. Future joint measures should include immediate emergency aid as well as community development. Lets have a look, what we together can bring about, for the people of Miya Bigha and beyond.
