Farmers can now book drone spraying services just like cabs, marking a major step towards technology-driven agriculture. Announced in Visakhapatnam, the initiative aims to make drone services easily accessible to farmers through a mobile app or call centre, allowing them to schedule spraying at their preferred time. The drones are designed to spray fertilisers and pesticides quickly and evenly, ensuring better coverage while reducing wastage as the spray reaches crops directly.

Officials said the service will help farmers save time and labour, address labour shortages in agriculture, and cover larger areas more efficiently. It is also expected to lower fertiliser and pesticide costs, reduce health risks associated with chemical spraying, and ultimately support higher profits at lower costs. Farmers have been encouraged to adopt this modern technology to improve efficiency and make farming more sustainable and productive.

Karnataka’s agriculture sector has received a major boost with a ₹192-crore allocation under the National Pulses Mission, aimed at strengthening pulses production and farmer incomes across the state. The announcement was made by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during an event in Bengaluru, where he highlighted Karnataka’s key role in India’s pulses and millets landscape.

Alongside this, ₹154 crore in pending funds under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana has also been released. A focused push will be given to tur dal production through the establishment of 25 seed villages, with participating farmers set to receive incentives of ₹10,000 per hectare. To improve value addition and ensure better price realisation, the Centre will also provide a subsidy of ₹25 lakh per dal mill.

Karnataka Agriculture Minister N Cheluvarayaswamy noted the state’s strong contribution to national agri exports, especially in millets and coffee, and stressed the need for greater support in areas like food processing, cold storage, logistics, branding and exports. Chouhan underlined that investments in quality seeds, processing infrastructure and strong market linkages are essential for ensuring stable farmer incomes, adding that Central support will continue without political bias and in close cooperation with states. He also flagged off the Sampurna Grand Challenge 2026, an innovation initiative led by the Government of Karnataka in collaboration with global and national partners.

COP30 Begins in BelÊm: Time for Action, Inclusion & India’s Leadership in Climate Solutions đŸ‡ŽđŸ‡ŗ

As the world gathers in BelÊm, Brazil, for COP30, the message is clear — climate urgency must meet climate justice. Global attention is on financing, adaptation, and protecting the most vulnerable communities as extreme weather events reshape lives and economies.

Amid this, India stands out not just as a participant, but as a driver of climate solutions — combining growth, green innovation, and equity. From the LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) movement launched by Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi, to the Panchamrit commitments on renewable energy, carbon intensity, and Net Zero by 2070, India’s climate action story is both ambitious and inclusive.

India’s Key Climate Milestones:

# World’s 3rd largest renewable energy capacity – leading in solar & wind expansion.
# National Green Hydrogen Mission – redefining the clean fuel landscape.
# International Solar Alliance – uniting over 120 nations for solar cooperation.
# Mission LiFE – placing individuals and communities at the heart of sustainability.
# Sustainable Agriculture & Bio-Economy Missions – transforming livelihoods with low-carbon practices.

As global leaders debate the future of climate finance and equitable transitions, India’s approach, rooted in responsibility, innovation, and resilience, offers a blueprint for the Global South.

At Sustainability Matters, we believe India’s voice at COP30 must be one of hope, action, and partnership—demonstrating that development and decarbonisation can go hand in hand.
