Pallavi in Raga Bilahari | Honoring Guru Kelucharan Mohapatraโs Legacy
On this poignant and inspiring occasion, we pay our deepest respects to Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, the visionary who redefined and elevated Odissi into a globally celebrated classical art form. His timeless legacy continues to guide and inspire generations of dancers. This graceful tribute, presented by Art Vision in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Government of Odisha, was held at Rabindra Mandap on 7th April 2026.
The evening featured a captivating Pallavi performance by Priyanka Jena , a dedicated disciple of ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฎ ๐๐ฆ๐ญ. @๐๐๐๐ซ๐.๐๐๐ฌ๐ ( Gunjan Dance Academy ). Pallavi, known for its intricate interplay of rhythm, melody, and movement, showcased a seamless blend of grace and technical precision. Beginning with a slow, expressive tempo, the performance gradually evolved into complex rhythmic patterns, demanding both control and agility while maintaining aesthetic beauty.
Set in Raga Bilahari and Eka Tala, this compositionโoriginally choreographed by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatraโhighlighted the depth and richness of Odissi vocabulary. Priyankaโs performance reflected both discipline and sensitivity, embodying the essence of the form with poise.
Having begun her Odissi journey at a young age, Priyanka has emerged as a promising artist with a refined stage presence. A recipient of the Senior Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and a โBโ Grade artist empanelled with Doordarshan, she continues to earn recognition through her performances at various prestigious platforms.
