🚨 Public Appeal to Electricity Consumers & MSMEs of Odisha 🚨
Against Illegal Levy of Additional Security Deposit (ASD) by TPCODL
It has come to the notice of consumers, trade bodies and MSMEs that TPCODL has levied Additional Security Deposit (ASD) in violation of provisions of the OERC Distribution (Conditions of Supply) Code, 2019, without following due process, transparency and statutory safeguards meant for consumers.
Mass demand notices, absence of proper calculation sheets, non-refund of excess security deposits and threats of disconnection have caused serious hardship to domestic consumers, commercial establishments and MSMEs.
⚖️ Legal Action in Public Interest
The Electricity Regulatory Aid Cell, managed by Saraswati Educational and Charitable Trust, has decided to:
✅ File a petition before the Hon’ble Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC)
✅ Take the matter to the Hon’ble High Court, if required,
to protect consumer rights and ensure strict regulatory compliance by licensees.
This initiative is being undertaken purely in public interest, to uphold the rule of law and consumer protection principles in the power sector.
