Tara Trust is a registered non-profit organization in Goa, India, with the mission to empower, educate and enable the underprivileged, especially children and women, to improve their lives. 2008
April – Tara Trust was founded by Dr. Katharina Poggendorf-Kakar in Goa, India
With the aim of giving support and fundraising assistance to
the Shalini Fellowship – Delhi, in partnership with Udayan Care,
and the Jamyang School – Leh, Ladakh
2009
Continued assistance in finding sponsorships and donors for the north India partners along with the introduction of weekly art-based workshops with children in Goa
2010
Weekly creative workshops increased to 4 institutions
March - Visit to the Jamyang School in Leh to conduct workshops, provide progress reports and make inspections of the school and the children
2011
Weekly creative workshops were being conducted in 5 institutions throughout Goa
The1000 Crane Project was introduced as a permanent initiative of Tara Trust
February – Tara Trust held its first fundraiser in support of its Goa projects organizing an Art Auction with all funds raised for the on-going weekly workshops as well as initiating a mobile library
August – Juhi Pandey joined as Project Manager at Tara Trust
October – 1000 Crane Project conducted in New Delhi
November – Tara Trust celebrated Story Telling day on the 21st by reaching out to over 200 children across 5 institutions in Goa
December – Nancy Mascarenhas joined as Accounts and Admi
2012
Tara Trust increased its number of weekly creative workshops to include 8 institutions along with regular special workshops throughout Goa
1000 Crane T-Shirt Painting Project conducted at schools across Goa
February – 1000 Crane Project conducted in Mumbai
March – Began support partnership with the Naveen Nursery & Primary School – Varanasi
June – Special workshop on the Theater of the Oppressed
November – Story Telling day Celebration, release of Care & Compassion Booklet and special workshop with Subodh Kerkar and the children of Daddy’s Home – Margao
December – Tara Trust held a charity dinner in support of its on-going projects and fundraising
2013
Tara Trust increased its regular workshops to include 14 institutions
January – Sareeka Ugar joined as Workshop Coordinator
April – 1000 Crane Project conducted in Bangalore
April-May – 5 Day Summer Camp Program on Environmental Awareness conducted throughout 5 institutions
May – Visit to Leh, Ladakh to conduct inspecitions, workshops and the Theater of the Oppressed at LAMO
June – Abhishegh joined as Finance Manager
October – 1000 Crane Project to be conducted in Chennai
