CMCA CMCA’s grassroots engagement is powered by dedicated field teams and age-appropriate content, ensuring measurable impact and stories of real change.

The Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA) is a 25-year-old non-profit organization headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka, dedicated to building active citizenship and life skills in children and young people. With a vision to nurture the next generation to be concerned, thinking, and active citizens, CMCA works across schools, colleges, libraries, and communities in partnership with governments and like-minded organizations. Through five powerful programs - Magic Box, My Library for a Better Me, CMCA Clubs, Children’s Village Sabhas, and Catalyse, CMCA builds personal integrity, empathy, participation, and respect for diversity among the young. These programs span civic learning for early learners, participative reading-based interventions, school clubs focused on local action, community governance through Panchayats, and youth engagement in colleges. Each year, CMCA reaches over 2,50,000+ children and youth across 2,500+ schools, colleges, and libraries in 4 states through its transformative programs.

When children learn to care about their communities, we nurture more responsible citizens for tomorrow.💡

We’re proud to see our work featured in Deccan Herald , highlighting how civic learning can move beyond textbooks and become something children experience and practise.

The impact goes far beyond the classroom. It shapes young people to be more aware, empathetic and willing to take responsibility for the world around them. And every child reached can influence a family, a neighbourhood and, eventually, a city. 🏙️

Young Minds Explore Climate Wellbeing Through Art

On 19th September, five School Climate Action Clubs facilitated by CMCA’s educators participated in a cluster-level event organised by GBA, in association with .

Through art and zine-making, children explored climate challenges in their communities, expressed how these affect them, and imagined solutions.

The event offered a space to turn climate anxiety into creativity, reflection and action.
