It was formed to change the existing landscape of lighting methods, in rural India. By harnessing renewable energy sources - and connecting those in need with those willing to help - Batti strives for change that is sustainable. We envisioned that the border villages of Arunachal Pradesh should have batti, LIGHT, the basic necessity of life. We aimed for it, and through the support of people on pu
blic forums, we were able to bring solar powered lighting systems to 13 villages comprising of 154 tribal homes in Lower Dibang district of Arunachal Pradesh within one year. This district, which is home to a threateningly low population of about 12,000 Idu Mishmi tribals covers a vast area, most of which is reachable by treks on foot through rivers and jungles. the remoteness of this district makes it a difficult project for support to reach here and this very remoteness became fuel to the journey of Further and Beyond. With Batti Project on our mind, we went deep into these jungles to light up the homes where government and grids couldn't reach. the expedition continues and so does our willingness to light up more homes. There are more than 20000 homes that can be provided with basic light and we hope to achieve this in stages over the next 3 years through several programs engaging, villages, people through social medium and corporate collaborations, creating a sustainable model to take renewable energy to remote tribal lands. The expedition continues and so does our willingness to light up more homes. your support will take us deeper into more jungles and more homes. please write to us at [email protected], rajiv ([email protected]) or [email protected] to support batti.
