✨ Celebrating Learning, Leadership & What’s Ahead!

We’re proud to celebrate Anjali Chauhan, Executive Director, WEP India, and Pratima Kamble, Associate Director – Programs, on completing the Advanced Programme in CSR and Sustainable Strategic Leadership at IIM Indore.

The programme explored questions that are central to our work:

🌱 How do we build partnerships that last?
🌱 How do we grow while remaining rooted in the aspirations of young women?
🌱 How do we measure the change that truly matters?

Their capstone project, “Building Sustainable CSR Partnerships for Emerging NGOs,” drew from WEP India’s journey and the strategic direction we are shaping for the future.

These learnings are already helping us strengthen partnerships, deepen our programmes and create more pathways for young women to choose how they live, learn, lead and earn.

On 19 March 2026, 12 students from Ramnad Academy set out on a one-day educational trip to Rameswaram.

The day was filled with first-time experiences. At Kurusadai Island, several students travelled by sea for the first time. The boat ride itself became unforgettable as they watched the waves stretch in every direction.

On the island, they observed coral formations, seagrass beds, and small sea organisms that they had only read about in textbooks. At Vivekananda Memorial, they reflected on discipline, confidence, and leadership. At Dhanushkodi, they stood among the ruins of a town destroyed by the 1964 cyclone and later witnessed the meeting point of the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.

The trip brought together nature, history, engineering, reflection, and friendship.

They returned more connected to each other, more aware of the world around them, and more curious about the future ahead.

On 28 February 2026, 24 students and 2 staff members stepped outside the classroom for a full day of environmental learning.

They visited Chinna Suruli Falls, Veerapandi Gowmariamman Temple, Kuchanur Saneeswaran Temple, Devadhanapatti village, and Manjalar Dam. At every stop, the students observed, asked questions, and reflected.

At the dam, they learned how water is stored and distributed. In the village, they spoke with farmers about land, food security, and the challenges of cultivation. At the waterfalls, they simply stood still and took in the beauty of something worth protecting.

For many students, these were firsts. A first waterfall. A first dam. A first real conversation with a farmer.

They returned with stronger bonds, deeper reflection, and a more personal sense of responsibility toward the natural world.

Hiware Bazar Visit | Hyderabad Academy

Twelve students travelled outside Telangana for the first time to visit Hiware Bazar in Maharashtra.

The village is known for its collective decision-making, clean streets, strong community systems, and dignity in everyday life. As students walked through the village and spoke with farmers, they saw what can happen when people come together with discipline and shared purpose.

For Bhavani, the visit was deeply moving. She noticed the dignity in the lives of farmers and the way a functioning government hospital served people equally.

The experience sparked a quiet but strong desire in the students to take the same spirit of unity back to their own villages.

They returned with more than memories. They returned with a new way of thinking about leadership, community responsibility, and what change can look like when people decide to build together.

From Telangana to Hiware Bazar, Maharashtra, our students witnessed a village built on unity, leadership, and self-reliance ✨ They saw farmers thriving through sustainable livelihoods, communities working together, and what real change looks like when people show up for each other. This visit didn't just teach them about development; it made them believe they could create it too.

During a three-day learning trip to Kakinada, 16 students and staff members were introduced to backyard fish farming.

For many students, the trip was filled with firsts. Some saw mangroves and the coastline for the first time. At the training ponds, they learned about fish health, water quality, feeding practices, and how tiny fish fry can grow with care and consistency.

For Mounika, the experience became personal.

After watching the process closely, she returned with a clear thought: she wanted to speak to her parents about starting a small fish tank at home.

That is the power of exposure. It does not just teach a skill. It helps a young woman see that something can begin small and still become meaningful.

At WEP, these experiences help students step outside familiar surroundings, learn from real-world practices, and return with a wider sense of what is possible.

When Akshaya first joined the beekeeping training, she admitted she knew nothing about bees and was scared of them.

But she kept showing up.

Step by step, she learned how to care for the hives, observe the bees, understand the process, and manage the work with patience. Today, she has set up four hives on her own family’s land.

For students like Ruth Venkatamma and Kavya, beekeeping also became something they could do with their mothers, turning the learning into a family activity rooted in both income and environmental care.

This season, the group harvested their first batch of honey. One hive alone produced half a kilogram.

It may seem small, but for the students, it was a powerful reminder of what can grow when confidence meets opportunity.

At WEP, learning is not only about classrooms. It is also about helping young women try something new, build practical skills, and imagine sustainable futures for themselves.

Menstruation is natural. Understanding it should be too.

Across WEP Academies, young women come together in safe spaces where they can ask questions, challenge myths, and learn about their bodies without fear or shame.

Through conversations on menstrual cycles, hygiene, menstrual products, nutrition, safe disposal, and self-care, knowledge begins to replace silence.

That knowledge builds confidence. Confidence encourages conversation. And every open conversation creates a ripple effect—reaching friends, families, and communities.

Every young woman deserves the knowledge, dignity, and support to make informed choices about her health.
