🌟 Unnati 2026 – Advancing AAC Through School-Wide Implementation 🌟

We are delighted to share that Ms. Gowri Sivakumar and Ms. Harini, Founding Members of We Nurture Foundation, were invited to Unnati 2026 – An Avaz Schools Meetup, held on 22 August 2026 in Bengaluru.
The meetup brought together schools and professionals to strengthen Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and create meaningful communication opportunities for children.

As part of the event, Ms. Gowri and Ms. Harini presented “School-Wide Implementation of AAC for Communication Needs,” sharing WNF’s experiences and learning in creating a communication-supportive ecosystem where AAC extends beyond a device or therapy tool to become part of everyday school life.

Ms. Gowri also participated as a panelist in a one-hour discussion on breaking school-level implementation barriers and scaling AAC/Avaz adoption. The discussion explored key areas including staff buy-in and training, the role of SLPs, parent partnership and addressing AAC myths, consistent AAC use at home, funding and sustainability, school-wide implementation, tracking AAC progress, and lessons learned from the AAC journey.

The panel reinforced the importance of collective ownership, collaboration, consistent implementation and sustainable systems to move from “AAC in one classroom” to AAC across the school.

Welcoming Dr. Rita James to the Advisory Board of We Nurture Foundation

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Rita James to the Advisory Board of We Nurture Foundation.

With over 30 years of experience working with children with special needs, Dr. Rita brings with her a wealth of knowledge in special education, vocational training, counselling and mentoring of professionals in the field. She is the Founder & Director of Asha Kiran Special Needs School, which is accredited to the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Government of India.

Her academic journey spans Special Education for the Hearing Impaired, Advanced Diploma in Education for Special Needs Children, RCI programmes in vocational training and placement, and counselling and psychotherapy. Her contributions have also been recognised through several honours, including a Lifetime Achievement Award in Social Impact (2024).

At We Nurture Foundation, we believe that experience becomes truly meaningful when it helps shape possibilities for the next generation. We look forward to Dr. Rita’s guidance as we strengthen our programmes, empower our educators and therapists, and continue creating meaningful learning opportunities for children with diverse needs.

We are delighted to welcome Mohan Sundaram to the Advisory Board of We Nurture Foundation.

A seasoned mentor, business leader, social entrepreneur, and technology innovator, he brings over 42 years of experience spanning corporate leadership, entrepreneurship, strategy, and technology. His journey from the corporate world to the social sector reflects a powerful combination of business acumen, innovation, and social purpose.

He has served for nine years on the Board of the Association of People with Disability (APD) and as President of the Disability NGOs Alliance (DNA). Since 2009, he has mentored more than 1,200 entrepreneurs at NSRCEL, IIM Bangalore, helping shape ventures with purpose and impact. He also established ARTILAB FOUNDATION to incubate technology ventures addressing needs within the disability sector.

At We Nurture Foundation, our aspirations strongly resonate with Mr Mohan’s commitment to innovation for disability inclusion and creating greater access to opportunities. We look forward to his guidance as we strengthen our programs, explore innovative solutions, and build more inclusive and equitable communities.

🌸 Onam Celebration at We Nurture Foundation 🌸

Our children enjoyed celebrating Onam with lots of happiness and excitement. They made colourful flowers, decorated the Pookolam together and came dressed in beautiful traditional attire. 🌼✨

Welcoming Chitra Paul to the Advisory Board of We Nurture Foundation
We are delighted to welcome Chitra Paul to the Advisory Board of We Nurture Foundation.
What could be better for We Nurture Foundation than having someone on our Advisory Board whose values and vision so closely align with our own — to work towards creating a more inclusive, equitable, and empowered world for every individual?
A parent advocate, inclusion champion, and leader in the neurodiversity movement, Chitra brings to table the powerful perspective of lived experience to her work. A strong advocate for communication inclusion and meaningful self-advocacy.
As Co-founder and Director of Allinclusive Foundation and Program Specialist – Special Projects at Keystone Institute India, Chitra works towards strengthening direct support services, advancing self-advocacy, and creating more inclusive communities.
An accomplished speaker, trainer, and author, she has contributed significantly to conversations around autism and inclusion and co-edited Talking Fingers – Voices of Indian Non-Speaking Autistics. Her work was recognised with the Dr. Amarnath Rajanahally Award for Inclusion (2024).
We are honoured to have Chitra join us and look forward to building more inclusive communities and promoting meaningful inclusion for neurodiverse individuals, guided by her experience, advocacy, and deep commitment to the neurodiversity movement.

Our hearts were filled with joy as our students participated in **Rainbow Festival 2026**, organized by **Team Inclusion Movement (TIM)**. It was a beautiful celebration where every child was seen, valued, and celebrated for who they are. Watching our students smile, connect, and shine reminded us that inclusion is not just about participation—it is about belonging. We are grateful to TIM for creating a space where every child's uniqueness was embraced and celebrated.
