The devastating 2024 landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, claimed nearly 300 lives & left many families shattered, homes & livelihoods were destroyed & many dreams were buried.
The RECS Batch of '96 Charitable Foundation stepped in with a heartfelt mission to support affected families. Manesh Alias (RECS Class of 1996 & President of Foundation), personally traveled to Wayanad to help one family rebuild their life, starting with a sewing machine, offering them a chance to regain their livelihood.
In this photo: meet Shaheela and her mother, who lost their home in Chooralmala, Waynad to the landslide. Their lives were spared, but their house and land are now un-inhabitable.
Shaheela, a dedicated tutor to 40 children, tragically lost 20 of her students in the disaster. She’s undergoing counseling to heal & find her strength again.
Her mother, a skilled tailor, is rebuilding her tailoring shop and school, thanks to your generous contributions.
Now living in a rented home in Kalpetta, the mother & daughter are bravely starting over again..
This small gesture, a sewing machine—represents more than livelihood. It’s a message of care, resilience & hope for a brighter tomorrow. ❤️
