Promoting Scientific Coconut Cultivation among Farmers

Bosco Reach Out, in collaboration with the Coconut Development Board (CDB), organised a Farmer’s Training and Demonstration Programme on Coconut Cultivation on 29 September 2026 at Charaihabi, Khowang, and Project office, Kotoha, Barbaruah, Dibrugarh district, Assam. The programme was conducted for the community partners participating in the NABARD-funded TRIBES Project implemented in Khowang and Barbaruah blocks, with the objective of creating awareness among farmers about scientific coconut cultivation and improved management practices.

The programme was conducted in the presence of Shri Rajeeb Bhushan Prasad, Director, Coconut Development Board, and Shri Komal Lochan Panda, Development Officer, Coconut Development Board. Shri Jyotishman Saikia, ADO, and Shri Rahul Lahon, AEA, from the Agriculture Department of Khowang Block, along with Shri Jinamoni Lahkar, ADO, and Shri Iftekhar Hussain, AAE, from the Agriculture Department of Barbaruah Block, were also present during the programme.

The farmers were guided on various aspects of coconut cultivation, including the selection of healthy planting materials, proper planting methods, recommended spacing, nutrient management, intercultural operations, pest and disease management, and the overall maintenance of coconut plantations. Coconut seedlings were also distributed to the community partners to support the adoption of improved coconut cultivation practices.

Opening of Common Facility Centre (CFC) & Skill Upgradation Training

Bosco Reach Out opened the newly established Common Facility Centre (CFC) and commenced Skill Upgradation Training on 25 September 2026 at the NABARD-funded TRIBES Project site in Charaihabi, Khowang Block, Dibrugarh, Assam.

The programme was graced by Rev. Fr. Ignatius Gari, Executive Director, Bosco Reach Out; Shri Pradip Haloi, Handicraft Entrepreneur, TAT Ghar, Dibrugarh; Shri Pranjal Gogoi, Handloom Officer, Department of Handloom and Textiles, Dibrugarh District, Government of Assam; Shri Binud Saikia, Sericulture Demonstrator, Khowang Block, Department of Sericulture, Dibrugarh District, Government of Assam; Shri Dhrubajyoti Phukan, Sericulture Demonstrator, Barbaruah Block, Department of Sericulture, Dibrugarh District, Government of Assam; and the President of Khowang FPO.

The programme included an orchard visit for the guests and a skill-upgradation training session for the trainees, aimed at strengthening their skills, knowledge and livelihood opportunities.

BRO–JPN Job Fair Connects Job Seekers with Employment Opportunities

On 16 September 2026, Bosco Reach Out (BRO), in collaboration with the Don Bosco Job Placement Network (JPN), India, National Career Service - NCS , ANMA Integrated Development Association - AIDA, Don Bosco Technical Maligaon, Parish Youth and the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, organised a Job Fair at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall, Panbazar, Guwahati, Assam.

The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a prayer service, led by Rev. Fr. Thomas Lakra SDB, Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Parish, Panbazar. Rev. Fr. Ignatius Gari SDB, Executive Director, BRO, Guwahati, delivered the welcome address and felicitated the guests. The gathering was honoured by the presence of Rev. Fr. Gabriel Karunaraj SDB, National Director, Don Bosco Job Placement Network, India; Shri Arvind K. Ramteke, Assistant Director, NCSC-DA, Guwahati; and Smt. Nilutpala Deka, Young Professional, NCSC-DA, Guwahati. In their messages, the guests encouraged and motivated the participating job seekers to make the most of the employment opportunities available to them. Rev. Fr. Sebastian Mathew SDB, Salesian Provincial, Salesian Province of Guwahati - ING, expressed his appreciation on seeing a large number of young people come forward to explore employment opportunities and participate in the interviews. Representatives from the participating recruiting organisations also introduced their organisations and briefed the candidates about the available job opportunities, requirements, and career prospects.

The Job Fair witnessed the participation of 170 job seekers and 12 recruiters. We sincerely thank all the participating recruiters— SBI Life Insurance, The Employment Providers, Reliance Jio, New Checks Pvt. Ltd., Summer Sands Beach Resort, Maxx Fashion, Mynt Careers Pvt. Ltd., Flywayy Guwahati, Iprocess–ICICI, YUVA SHAKTI, FMC Global, and Quess Corp Private limited Guwahati—for their valuable participation and support in making the Job Fair a meaningful platform for connecting job seekers with employment opportunities.

The initiative reflects the shared commitment of BRO and its partners to promote employability, connect job seekers with potential employers, and create pathways towards sustainable livelihoods and dignified employment for young people.

Training and Awareness Programme on Orchard and Soil Management

On 14 September 2026, Bosco Reach Out (BRO), under the NABARD-funded TRIBES Project, conducted a practical training and demonstration programme at Deuguri Community Hall, Kushdhowa, Goalpara district of Assam on young orchard management, including weeding, mulching, soil conservation, intercropping, and proper manure and fertilizer application. An awareness session on soil health, integrated soil management, and Soil Health Cards was also conducted in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Octopus Inc.

Awareness Programme on FPO Management

An Awareness Programme on Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) Management was conducted for community partners under the NABARD-supported Sericulture-Based Non-Wadi Project in Barbaruah Development Block, Dibrugarh District, Assam. The programme focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of FPO management, collective action, leadership, and sustainable agricultural enterprise development.

🌱 Celebrating Skills, Empowerment and New Opportunities! 🎓

Bosco Reach Out (BRO), Agriculture Training Centre, Joropara, North Garo Hills, Meghalaya, organised a Certificate Distribution Programme on 10 September 2026 for trainees who successfully completed Skill Development Training under the Inter-State Development Programme (ISBADP), with the support of the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS).

The programme was graced by Smti Mary Sonty N. Marak, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North Garo Hills, who encouraged the trainees to make use of their skills for a brighter and sustainable future. Shri Lenick Mangsang Sangma, Skill Development Officer, MSSDS; Bro. Joby Mani, Associate Director, BRO; and village headmen were also present.

Certificates were awarded to trainees trained in Organic Farming, Poultry, Piggery, and Pickle Making Technician. The trainees were also introduced to employment opportunities through the Don Bosco Job Placement Network, opening pathways towards sustainable employment and livelihoods.

🌱 Thrizino Aka FPO Participates in Agri-Horti Buyer-Seller Meet 2026 🌱

Thrizino Aka Farmer Producer Organization (FPO), Promoted by Bosco Reach OutBosco Reach Out (BRO) under NABARD supported TRIBES project in West Kameng district, proudly participated in the two-day Agri-Horti Buyer-Seller Meet 2026, held on 27–28 August 2026 at Gyaptong Indoor Stadium, Rupa, West Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh.

Representing Thrizino Aka FPO, Shri Kiran Phomsow, Shri Kiran Nimasow, and Shri August Dajusow actively participated in the event and showcased the spirit and potential of the farming community.

The presence and encouragement of BRO staff and Dr. Passang Norbu, District Development Consultant (DDC), NABARD, West Kameng, greatly motivated the farmer representatives and strengthened their confidence to explore new opportunities for agricultural marketing, networking, and sustainable growth.
