Every day, we throw things “away” - but there is no away.
Nearly one-third of waste is mismanaged, meaning it is dumped, burned, or left in the open. Over 35% ends up on land, in our forests, mountains, and surroundings, while a large portion travels through rivers, with 80% of ocean waste coming from land. At the same time, about 29% is openly burned, polluting the air we breathe.

This waste doesn’t stay out of sight ,it comes back to us.
Through polluted water, damaged soil, toxic air, and even the food we eat.

The improper disposal and mixing of biomedical waste with municipal solid waste is a clear violation of the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016, notified under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, and attracts criminal liability including imprisonment up to five years, monetary penalties, and prosecution of the responsible head of the institution.

How long are we expected to silently accept this negligence? How long will public health, sanitation workers, and our environment continue to be placed at risk due to carelessness and lack of accountability? The law is clear, the responsibilities are defined, and the penalties are strict. What is missing is enforcement. Our community cannot continue to bear the consequences of repeated violations. Immediate corrective action and strict accountability are not just administrative duties — they are legal and moral obligations.
