Day 3 | 21st March 2026 | Chimdibhar Asmaan

CLRA, with support from Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung South Asia, presents the final day of Chimdibhar Asmaan, turning to creative expression as a way of understanding Adivasi labour migration.

Across migration journeys shaped by work and survival, experiences of loss, identity, and resistance find expression in poetry, oral traditions, and creative practice.

3:00 – 5:30 pm | Discussion - 'Exploring Migration and Culture through Poetry and Literature': With Santosh Pawara and Barkha Valvi, moderated by Kanubhai Vasava, this session brings together Adivasi poets and writers sharing intimate reflections on migration, memory, and identity through poetry and storytelling.

CLRA और रोज़ा लक्ज़मबर्ग स्टीफटुंग द्वारा आयोजित 'चिमड़ीभर आसमाँ' के समापन दिवस में हम पलायन को कविता, कथा और रचनात्मक अभिव्यक्ति के माध्यम से समझने की कोशिश करेंगे।

विस्थापन और कठिन हालातों के बीच, हानि, संघर्ष और प्रतिरोध के अनुभव अक्सर कविता और मौखिक परंपराओं में जीवित रहते हैं।

दूसरा दिन | 20 मार्च 2026 | चिमड़ीभर आसमाँ

CLRA, रोज़ा लक्ज़मबर्ग स्टिफ्टुंग के सहयोग से, अपनी प्रदर्शनी और चर्चा श्रृंखला ‘चिमड़ीभर आसमाँ: लाखों आदिवासी मज़दूरों के प्रवासी जीवन की झलकियाँ’ का दूसरा दिन प्रस्तुत करती है।

मौसमी पलायन केवल श्रम का प्रश्न नहीं है। यह भाषा, स्मृति और सामुदायिक जीवन को भी प्रभावित करता है। जब आदिवासी मज़दूर काम की तलाश में अलग-अलग क्षेत्रों में जाते हैं, तो उनका सामना प्रभुत्वशाली संस्कृतियों और सामाजिक ढाँचों से होता है, जो अक्सर उनकी अपनी भाषाओं और परंपराओं को हाशिये पर धकेल देते हैं।

विस्थापन की स्थितियों में संस्कृति पर क्या असर होता है? क्या खोता है, और क्या बचा रहता है?

दिन 2 प्रवासन के सांस्कृतिक आयामों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करता है, और भाषा, पहचान तथा निरंतरता के सवालों को सामने लाता है।

दोपहर 3:00 बजे–शाम 5:30 बजे | चर्चा - प्रवासन का भाषा और संस्कृति पर प्रभाव: गणेश देवी, अशोक चौधरी और बाबुभाई निनामा के साथ, तथा अर्जुन राठवा के संचालन में, यह सत्र भाषाई विविधता, सांस्कृतिक क्षरण और आदिवासी ज्ञान परंपराओं के संरक्षण और दस्तावेज़ीकरण के प्रयासों पर विचार करेगा।

शाम 6:00 बजे से | सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम: शाम में ‘अदना ते मानवी’ - अहमदाबाद की मोटेरा बस्ती के निवासियों द्वारा प्रस्तुत नुक्कड़ नाटक - के साथ-साथ भावेशभाई खाट के संगीत समूह की प्रस्तुति होगी, जिसमें श्रमिक संघर्ष, संगठन और सामाजिक न्याय जैसे मुद्दों पर गीत प्रस्तुत किए जाएंगे।

Day 2 | 20th March 2026 | Chimdibhar Asmaan

CLRA, with support from Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, presents the second day of their exhibition-and-discussion series 'Chimdibhar Asmaan: Glimpses into the Migrant Lives of Lakhs of Adivasi Workers.'

Seasonal migration is not only about labour. It also reshapes language, memory, and community life. As Adivasi workers move across regions in search of work, they encounter dominant cultures and hierarchies that often marginalize their own languages and practices.

What happens to culture in conditions of displacement? What is lost, and what continues?

Day 2 seeks to bring attention to the cultural dimensions of migration, foregrounding questions of language, identity, and continuity.

3:00 pm - 5:30 pm | Discussion - Impact of Migration on Language and Culture: With Ganesh Devy, Ashok Choudhary, and Babubhai Ninama, moderated by Arjun Rathwa, this session will reflect on linguistic diversity, cultural erosion, and the ongoing work of sustaining and documenting Adivasi knowledge systems.

6:00 pm onwards | Cultural Programme: The evening features Adna te Manvi, a street play by residents of Motera Basti, Ahmedabad, along with a music performance by Bhaveshbhai Khat’s group, presenting songs on workers’ struggles, organising, and social justice.

रोज़ा लक्ज़मबर्ग स्टिफ्टुंग (Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung South Asia) के साथ, CLRA प्रस्तुत करती है: 'चिमडीभर आसमान' - एक प्रदर्शनी और चर्चा श्रृंखला, जो लाखों प्रवासी आदिवासी मज़दूरों के जीवन और संघर्षों को सामने लाती है।

भारत में बड़ी संख्या में आदिवासी मज़दूर काम के लिए मौसमी पलायन करते हैं। उनका श्रम खेतों, निर्माण स्थलों, कारखानों और शहरों को चलाता है, लेकिन उनकी ज़िंदगी और संघर्ष सार्वजनिक और राजनीतिक बहसों से काफ़ी हद तक गायब रहते हैं। प्रदर्शनी, चर्चाओं और सांस्कृतिक प्रस्तुतियों के ज़रिए, 'चिमडीभर आसमान' इन हक़ीक़तों और उनसे उठने वाले सवालों - श्रम, पलायन, संस्कृति और राजनीतिक प्रतिनिधित्व से जुड़े सवालों - पर विचार करता है।

पहले दिन का कार्यक्रम:

11:30 बजे - 12:30 बजे | प्रदर्शनी उद्घाटन: प्रदर्शनी का उद्घाटन ब्रिट्टा पीटरसन, रोज़ा लक्ज़मबर्ग स्टिफ्टुंग के नई दिल्ली कार्यालय की प्रमुख, और मृत्युंजय चैटर्जी, रिव्यू से जुड़े कलाकार एवं डिज़ाइनर, द्वारा किया जाएगा।

3:00 बजे - 5:30 बजे | चर्चा – 'आदिवासी मज़दूर पलायन को राजनीतिक एजेंडे में लाना': सहभागी इस सवाल पर विचार करेंगे कि आदिवासी पलायन राजनीतिक विमर्श में हाशिए पे क्यों है? और आदिवासी प्रवासी मज़दूरों के अनुभवों एवं तकलीफों को राजनीतिक एजेंडों में किस तरह केंद्रित किया जा सकता है?

शाम 6:00 बजे से | सांस्कृतिक प्रस्तुति: छोटा उदेपुर, गुजरात के आदिवासी कलाकारों द्वारा चाडा / तिमली नृत्य - शहनाई और ढोल जैसे वाद्ययंत्रों पर महिलाओं और पुरुषों की प्रस्तुति।

Chimdibhar Asmaan: Glimpses into the Migrant Lives of Lakhs of Adivasi Workers | Day 1 | 19th March 2026

CLRA, with support from Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung-South Asia (Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung South Asia), is pleased to present 'Chimdibhar Asmaan' - an exhibition and discussion series that foregrounds the lived realities of lakhs of migrant Adivasi workers.

Across India, large numbers of Adivasi workers migrate seasonally for work. Their labour sustains farms, construction sites, factories and cities, but their lives and struggles remain largely absent from public and political conversation. Through an exhibition, discussions, and cultural performances, 'Chimdibhar Asmaan' reflects on these realities and the questions they raise about labour, migration, culture, and political representation.

Day 1 Programme:

11:30 am - 12:30 pm | Exhibition Inauguration: The exhibition will be inaugurated by Britta Petersen, Head of the New Delhi Office of Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, and Mrityunjay Chatterjee, artist and designer associated with R***e.

3:00 pm - 5:30 pm | Discussion - 'Bringing Tribal Labour Migration into the Political Agenda': This discussion will examine why Adivasi migration remains largely absent from political discourse, and reflect on how the experiences and concerns of Adivasi migrant workers can be centred in political agendas.

6:00 pm onwards | Cultural Performance: Chada / Timli Nrutya by tribal musicians from Chhota Udepur, Gujarat - performed by women and men on instruments like the shehnai and dhol.

Centre for Labour Research and Action, Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung South Asia के सहयोग से, पश्चिमी भारत के आदिवासी क्षेत्र से होने वाले श्रम प्रवास की वास्तविकता को दर्शाने वाली एक प्रदर्शनी का आयोजन कर रहा है। कला, ध्वनि, पाठ, फिल्म, प्रस्तुति और संवाद के माध्यम से यह प्रदर्शनी आम लोगों को प्रवास के पीछे मौजूद श्रम, आकांक्षाओं और जीवन-निर्माण की निरंतर प्रक्रिया को देखने, सुनने और महसूस करने के लिए आमंत्रित करेगी।

इस पहल में श्रमिकों को सह-भागीदार (co-collaborators) के रूप में देखने का उद्देश्य है, ताकि यह एक ऐसा स्थान बन सके जहाँ श्रमिक इन प्रदर्शनों के माध्यम से अपने अनुभवों को पहचान सकें और CLRA तथा यूनियन Majur Adhikar Manch के साथ नए संबंध स्थापित हो सकें।

इसका एक उद्देश्य यह भी है कि शहरी निवासी, विद्यार्थी और अन्य दर्शक ग्रामीण से शहरी प्रवास और शहरी जीवन के बीच के आपसी संबंध को समझ सकें।

प्रदर्शनी के साथ-साथ CLRA तीनों दिनों के दौरान विषयगत चर्चाएँ और सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम भी आयोजित करेगा।

Centre for Labour Research and Action, in collaboration with Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung South Asia, has curated an exhibition depicting the reality of labour migration from the Western India tribal belt. Through art, sound, text, film, performance, and dialogue, the exhibition will invite the public to see, hear, and feel the continuum of labour, longing, and life-making behind migration.

The intention is to consider workers as co-collaborators for this exercise with the hope that it becomes a space where workers recognise their own experiences through the exhibits and new connections are forged with CLRA and the union Majur Adhikar Manch. The intention is also that urban residents, students, and other audiences are able to envision the interlink between rural to urban migration and urban life.

Alongside the exhibits, CLRA will also hold thematic discussions and cultural programs on all the three days.
