University of Kashmir and Youth Convention of Jammu and Kashmir-NGO Collaborate for Cleanliness Drive at Boys' Hostels

Srinagar, 12 August 2024– The University of Kashmir, in collaboration with the Youth Convention of Jammu and Kashmir (YCJK-NGO), conducted a one-day cleanliness and sanitation drive at the S.A. and SMS Boys' Hostels of the University of Kashmir. This initiative was conducted under the aegis of the Swachhta Pakhwada and Green India Mission, reinforcing the commitment towards a cleaner and greener India.

The drive was authorized by Prof. Naseer Iqbal, Registrar of the University of Kashmir, and led by the In-Charge Provost, Prof. Md. Mehraj. Key participants included Dr. Javaid Ahmed Sheikh, Warden of S.A. and SMS Boys' Hostels, Dr. Sajad Ahmed, and Suhail Farooq, President of YCJK-NGO. The leadership team of YCJK-NGO, including Vice President Arsalan Ashraf Wani, Secretary Mohsin Gulzar, and Under Secretary Babar Shaqeeb Paray, were also present.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from the boarders of both the S.A. and SMS Boys' Hostels, who actively contributed to the cleanliness and sanitation efforts. This initiative highlighted the collaborative efforts of the University of Kashmir and YCJK-NGO in promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability within the campus community.

The drive not only improved the living conditions of the hostels but also served as an important awareness campaign about the significance of cleanliness and hygiene, in line with national initiatives.

On the eve of 10th Muharram, the Youth Convention of Jammu and Kashmir, a prominent NGO based in Kashmir, undertook a commendable initiative to distribute water and other essentials at various locations across the region. This humanitarian effort was spearheaded by the organization's president, Suhail Farooq, and supported by Vice President Arsalan Ashraf, General Secretary Shakir Majeed Sheikh, Secretary Nasir Baba, and its Promotor and Legal Advisor, Advocate Mir Tajamul Islam.

Recognizing the significance of 10th Muharram, a day of profound mourning and remembrance in the Islamic calendar, the NGO aimed to provide relief and support to the community. Volunteers from the organization were stationed at key spots, ensuring that the distributed essentials reached those in need efficiently and respectfully.

Collaboration with the Municipal Committee Pulwama, organized a significant cleanliness drive. Operating under the banner of One Planet Mission-YCJK, this initiative aimed to foster environmental responsibility and civic engagement among the youth.

The Municipal Committee Pulwama played a pivotal role by providing manpower and essential equipment for the endeavor. Led by Coordinator Mir Mehvish and Co-Coordinator Qurat ul Ain, the event garnered participation from numerous volunteers affiliated with YCJK Pulwama.

In a heartwarming display of community service, the Youth Convention of Jammu and Kashmir (YCJK), a prominent non-governmental organization operating in the region, organized a noble initiative aimed at supporting education in rural areas. Today, under the auspices of its Elementary Education Center-YCJK, the organization distributed stationary supplies to students at the Government Middle School in Hariganiwan, Kangan, Ganderbal.

Led by the esteemed President of YCJK, Suhail Farooq, and accompanied by Vice President Arsalan Ashraf Wani, the event was a testament to the organization's unwavering commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
