Gan Sabra was born in March 2006 with an aim towards a concern to create hope for children infected and affected by HIV and AIDS and terminally ill children. It tries to spread joy in the lives of children and motivate them to lead their lives to the fullest. Gan Sabra believes that every child has a right to cherish their childhood in a protected and loving environment. The name came from the Hebrew words, Gan and Sabra. While the former refer to Garden, the later Sabra is one of the species of Cactus that grow and survive in the Palestine desert, it comes with specific implication, that is, as Sabra not only can survive in the desert but also provides water for the travellers, so also the children living with HIV/AIDS not only can survive in this cruel world but can also provide love and security to each and other children.
